all the help they can get.

i think DaMoose is currently taking a high BP rest. (he mentioned it in the forums)

and yes... we also need all the help we can get.
today is the first day we can open our doors and go outside gardening...been too much ash in the air for days....

sechelt fire is only a couple miles from our house. and depending on which way the wind is blowing...it's been awful.

as of yesterday...it's 400 hectares 75% contained.

helicopters flying over the house all day, and water bombers.

the local first nations folks set up free breakfasts and dinners for the fire fighters at their local lodge. very kind of them.

I'm here!

@Jono I have family on the coast and visit there all the time. (I was born and raised in PR). The ash was terrible there and in Van. too. Two weekends ago the smoke was so bad even where I am. I had a headache from it. The air quality was worse than Beiging! I'm glad things have settled down a little bit with lower temps and a bit of rain. Now Western Provinces have more help with Ontario fire fighters and some Aussies and New Zealanders and Sask has the military as well. And I just read now that guys from Mexico are helping in Alberta too.

With global warming they said our fire seasons going to be longer as they're starting earlier now. We had hardly any snow pack or much rain the last few months and now we have warmer temps. Such a change from 30 years ago. I remember when I was a kid it was a big deal to hit 30 degrees! This last heatwave was terrible. I think more people in the Lower Mainland will start building AC in their homes! We've had such nice warm weather for so long that in June to me it actually felt like Aug. At least it will feel like we've had a long summer!

The one thing with the smoke, it sure made some beautiful pics. Here are some of Vancouver, the Island and Sunshine Coast. It was so weird to see bright beautiful colours mid day. Then some days it was so dull and foggy like winter.

Wow. Missed your post before. What a vid.

Just in BC there are approx. 250 active fires. Total so far nearly 1100 fires. Total this time last year nearly 500. Probably going to be the worst fire season ever.

Thanks to the firefighters and military for all they do. Lots of people are sending good wishes to the firefighters online. They read the messages which keeps morale up.

thanks for sharing photos.
i took a few with my iphone...grin
but i know what you mean, the evening colors made for great sunsets.
but i couldn't get used to a very yellow sky in the morning...blues

and i know!! i hear ya!.... i'm born and bred vancouverite..,and i've never seen it like this. i said the same thing back in june...this feels like august.

the area where the fire is, is an area i go to often. it's full of old logging roads, and incredible views, small lake and unlimted places to stop for a picnic. last time i was up there i saw seven elk right in front of me. we're going up the other side of the inlet (across the water from the fire) and going up high to see if we can see any of the fire damage.

re: hockey...

ya never know...
maybe the 'real' canucks will come outta the woodwork...laugh
but i'd wait till the season starts up again. i'm not so sure that a lot of folks are following the trades....grin

(i live with a leaf fan.... so we have been...(grin))

and...

we just ordered hvac.....

i'll post a sunset pic a couple blocks from my house on my profile.
