Today unofficially marks the first day of summer here.
For most here, it is a day honoring sacrifices made by others serving our nation. It is also a soldiers duty to remember those who fought for freedom. Not for just defending our freedom, but the freedom of people around the world.

What makes this a "happy" day? Like you said, it is a day for mourning and giving thanks to those who paid the ultimate price. I doubt people are happy when they visit the graves at Normandy or Arlington or the small cemetery in their local town where their loved one is buried.
I know you meant well Galrad but there is nothing "happy" about today.

Hi, M! Good to see you again in the forums.
I guess "happy" used here is arguably appropriate for some.
We honor those who made the supreme sacrifice for freedom and liberty on Memorial Day. This song was sung by Katherine Jenkins at The Festival Of Remembrance. God Bless them all who made the ultimate sacrifice,L'est We Forget.
