I wonder what hands on trade did you train for, before you became "Executive management" in something unspecified ?
I assure you that if you walked into a traditional hands on workshop and said that aged 31 to people with 30 -40 years trade experience after our training and especially ex servicemen and women, you would be humiliated by laughter, banter and subjected to more verbal sarcasm than you ever knew existed. By your own admission you would have to carried out through the door horizontal for sedation in the sick bay if you think words can do that much damage - Thanks for the laugh we've heard it before

Fickle types who change their minds often, and hypocritical types who say one thing and do another, lose power in the long run. Words are meaningless and forgettable when divorced from substance and integrity, and it is for this reason that a man should always take the words of a woman with a pinch of salt.
