Thank you!
Back in My job, took me to Christchurch 2010 after the first earthquake, I did my job down there and experienced a rolling terrible experience, something that was the most scary uncontrollable experience.
Within months the big one one would hit.
Flew back before February then driving to a meeting heard the catastrophe happening of the Big quake.

2016
Up Far North we had many Tsunami sirens going.

Down south 2 dead, is just so bad!
100,000 landslips.
267 after shocks in one day.

Its actually a blessing in one way that where this happened was not a built up area or else it would have been annihilated.
Awful shocks happen very much within minutes to hour, , its a stress at that most high!

My friends in Canterbury and upper south Island.
Not good.

Up here, is just still now.
The beaches Ahipara and 90 mile are cunningly quite.

There's been been really good help from the government choosing to call in the Navy, and Helicopters, to get to the people in Kaikoura, move them out..

And many overseas help from different governments.Thank you!

And to the two cows and the calve stranded on the that pinnacle whilst the rest of the land fell away, they have now been saved.

(Dug a trench)

(For now)

Lets hope hope the farmer lets them live a life. (A long life)

Soph

Since I can remember the geotec experts have the east coat subducting onder some plate . We get a quake , only time subducting can happen and boom , up comes the east coast . Have you noticed those same geotec experts signing off on building safety designs that have failed again with the buildings in Wellington ruined by this quake miles from the quake . New buildings built since 2005 in the defence building example . They keep talking about the "big one " hitting Wellington " and with the roads out of there Kiakoura is a training exercise . Wellington harbour has been damaged this time . Theres a few people incharge could not run a kids birthday party in a candy store .

HexagonKeySet: I saw that the Chinese Embassy had hired helicopters to get their own people out of Kaikoura, hadn't heard that the Japanese govt had done same ... but, good for them for looking out for and after their own people rather than relying on Smug John and Fat Gerry.

Here's love and prayers for those guys - and an especial prayer that EQC / ACC and the Insurance Companies will play a rather more ethical game in dealing with those who've suffered injury and losses.

HexagonKeySet: Sorry dude I thought you was up north ... I had Dargaville in mind for you, should have looked !

Nice to see Mr Key speaking at length about minimising damage to the tourism industry ... and turning down assistance offered by Japan, USA and Malaysia 'We have enough resources he says'

Betcha Wellington gets more spending than all of the south island ...

As for Trumpy ... well, JK is best buddies with the outgoing chump, so Trump need not expect a call back anytime soon ! JL will be too busy muttering odious soundbites and being extra self important on TV

Glad you're safehug wave

Its such a harrowing feeling to be in a zone of an earthquake that kill many family members/colleagues/friends.

I wonder if there is periods of time when every volcano around the globe explodes along with earthquakes and storms, tornados and if this is a way for the Earth to clean itself.

I see theres a building damaged in Roturua for Christ's sake . Old buildings still standing while newer ones to be demolished in Wellington ???? do we have building standards or not . One thing at the rate Wellingtons buildings are being torn down / slash falling down they won't have any multi story building's left by the time they get the often quoted "big one " . 0-0 <<<---- stunned mullet emote
