pedalguy59: Best car I ever drove,....... a 64 series 1 roadster....... Discs all around, and syncromesh.
The clink clink of the starter, and rumble that followed, what a gem.

Ages ago when I worked as a racing mechanic, my boss had a well to do friend with a Bronze E Type with a 3.8L. The guy got hold of a 4.2L engine and Fred, my boss, had me swap the engines. Everything went fairly normal except as I remember I had to fabricate a bracket for the alternator because the 3.8 came with a generator or something like that, I don't remember the details. Anyway, I was amazed at just how heavy those engine were, I bet they weighed more that a Chevy V8.
When I got the engines swapped out, I had to devise an easy way of getting the old engine out of the shop. My solution was to tie a rope to it and tow it out of the shop with my 1958 Hillman. Dragged it right aross the floor, up the ramp and out into the back parking lot.
Driving the Jag with the 4.2 was a big disappointment. Even though the engine was bigger, the car felt like a de-tuned truck, gone was the crisp snap it used to have. The engine revved up slower and it was a total bore to drive.

Way more info than you wanted right?dunno

Boy you really are dense aren't you? It's entirely possible that the material that went into that coat, which cost over 500 US dollars BTW, came from New Zealand sheep. To that end I am a paying customer of yours. Do you think it's wise to insult a paying customer? I'm doing your country a big favor by promoting your countries exports or did that thought never cross your mind? If you worked for me and I heard you mocking on one of my customers you would be out of a job so fast your head would swim.comfort

Racing mechanic? Not showing a great mechanical knowledge there. A Subaru with less than half the displacement would flog all of those. Straight 6's generally throw a leg out of bed in a racing situation. If you can find a straight 6 with a square bore, they seem to go a bit harder for longer. As a driver, you work it out pretty quickly.

you're in a fightin mood aintcha? Well it would be pointless to get into a technical argument and bore everybody to death so I'll just leave it alone. BTW, thanks, I learned a new word today, "Bogan" over here we would call them "Bottom Feeders".

Yeah quite possibly. Jags havent featured much anywhere lately, apart from old Playboy mags maybe.

I think the bogan is more unique than bottom feeder, a term usually reserved for lawyers/debt collectors/government workers. Bogan is a way of life, you become a parking officer by choice.
