if you have to ask that question then you most certainly shouldn't...marriage isn't about whats in it for you....its about two people who love each other and choose to commit to each other by marrying one another....
It used to be that some people got married mainly for the married man's tax allowance here in the UK . - However - With my views as an agnostic when I got married & now widowed I have to say what I did to the canon who married us and later a bishop when asked why I wanted to get married and was married respectively - Bot times I said we love each other & to me God is neither existent nor parent so it is entirely the pairs choice.
M4_Mischief: Will you get married again, if the right guy / gal comes along? NO How will you know it's the right guy / gal? N/A Do you first require a trial period together? N/A There are people here from all 4 corners of the globe, Yes Will they ever get round to meeting? I doubt it We all know what "get round to" means!!! Yes
In some countries if you live together longer than a certain period, you are perceived to be legally married, and in community of property applies, meaning everything brought into the marriage, and after, are divided half / half!!!
Can you live with it? I don't have to because I live alone
....how much. Does it cost. For a dog licence......... do you heel when told..??????or are you still on the lead..?¿???¿???¿??
smiley963: Most of us here had been married, and the memory is not so great always:
It goes to the extent of never wanting to marry again, for some.

Yea... I like the idea of the trial period. Somehow that option in you OP jumped at me... Let's say... A 90-year trial period with both NOT living with each other?
Marriage makes things official and legally in most countries the rights of married couples over their kids and property are different to that of single parents. It is a bit like why do we eat from a plate instead of from packs or containers that food comes in? It is because we are supposed to be better then animals!

Well, I am a human being with rights, and a single mother, with even more rights.
Thus I earn a lot of money to feed and house my kids, with no man having any rights in my household. We now live a mil% better than when their father was around abusing us all, not working, and boozing the rest away, with blackouts as his escape mechanism, to not own up to his mistakes. What a wash-out!!!
I agree with you. When I look around me there are more people married and divorced a few times and so do I. First spending a lot of money for the marriage and after for the lawyer(s), when children are involved it brings more problems. The last years I see more and more couples living together some are registered as a couple and some not, this not only man/woman but homo couples also. They live happier than married people because they know they can break-up the partnership any time without all consequences as by ordinary marriage, less pressure and more trust on both sides. Not every marriage is a love story and many visitors here knows it very good by experience, a marriage sound nice as in a romantic movie but it is better to live a long time together to know each other before considering to marry again.
