The genuine welcome I found from the people in Pakistan was a very humbling experience.
Most of my time there was high up in the Northwest Frontier Region where people just wanted to help us as much as they could, quite often without asking for, or expecting any payment.
It was much the same in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Although much the same as any large cities, there was a slight edge there that wasn't apparent in the mountains, except perhaps when we bumped into a bunch of Mujahideen and even they treated us well.
There's little doubt that, for me, Pakistan still remains by far, the friendliest country I have visited.
