First off, why did you turn him down if you really really like him? And if you turned him down, why are you complaining about him not calling you? Was he a friend that you liked as a friend? And perhaps he wanted to be with you but you want to keep the friendship? Because I don't understand what you said. It sounds like you turned him down, want to be with him, and disappointed he didn't call. Now that makes no sense if that is the case.

Second part is the question, sorry I missed that the first time !
In a perfect world nobody would turn anybody down, nobody would wonder why, and everybody would have somebody.
Anybody would date whoever and whatever would happen !!
Whatever would grow-up and date somebody because nobody turned them down.
