We all can "want" a LTR with someone... but in my assessment, I think the party that "needs" a LTR with a another is the one that will go into that grey area of compromise that is a thin layer that can keep love alive.

someone who only "Wants" is someone who I fear because. "wants" are are not cherished mearly as much as a "need", nor is it appreaciated as well either.

My hope is to finds a person who will come to need me as much as I will come to need her... like strong unions and partnership... standing alone they are not as strong as they are joined to each other...needing someone is an acquired taste.

awhile ago there was a couple who said love and "wanted" to be together. Well, fate being what it is, dealt a bad health card to one... well the one that wanted her so badly ... left without so much as a fare you well.... my point is if his love was that resolute he would have moved heaven and earth ..why because his love was soo strong he needed to be her champion , nurse, shoulder yeah want and need theirs a difference

I think that everyone wants to be needed and needs to be wanted.

I need to want someone, but also want that person to need me too.
I want to need someone, but also need that person to want me too.

I've been kneed in the woo-woo's and wanted by the law,
those times were not funny !

It's when these topics are mixed all four ways between two people and remains stable, this I believe is the chemistry that makes a relationship ! The key to success !!applause grin

It is very unhealthy to "need" someone, if you are speaking romantically. You want them, you love them, but if you need them... in my opinion its time to rethink your life philosophy.

I believe that a relationship is an added bonus in life, and that in order to have one, you must first be happy with yourself, and be contented in being alone. Only then should someone enter your life.wave

I suppose I'm really referring to the way too many people who feel that they need a relationship to be happy. You don't need it to be happy with your life ya know??

I'm sure you'll agree that there are way too many people-- young and old-- who say the following "you are my whole life, my sole reason for living, I'd die if I didn't have you"

I've encountered alot of such people in my day. So yes, while relationships are important, they are not our purpose on earth. But I can see your point. :)

whole heartedly agree withyou on that note.

I still say our "real" function was for procreation but that got lost when they decided to build phallic symbols up into the skies. the greatest accomplish/gift a human cangive to the world have is thier children becoming better than they where...conversing

Well, I looked it up...

Want:
1) To feel a need for; wish or desire.
2) To request the presence of.
3) To be deficient in.
4) To feel inclined.

Need:
1) Requirement or obligation
2) Lack of something wanted or deemed necessary.
3) Urgent want, as of something requisite.
4) A situation or time of difficulty.

Pick one out or choose your own definition.

I kinda like the 'want' definition.

Ok, here's my final .02. You know when you get home from work and you're so hungry you can see the wind, you grab something out of the fridge or cabinet, doesn't really matter what it is, just to fill up that hole in your gut. That's a need. 2nd scenario, you have plans to go out to your favorite restaurant with a friend. You're anticipating it all day. It's so good you eat more than you should, even if you weren't that hungry when you got there. That's a want. I'd prefer to be a want.

I want some one who wants me and I want them. I don't want someone who is going to suck me dry emotionally.
