One thing I want to know is since you all believe we have to fight for out freedom so hard over here. What would happen if we stopped attacking other countries? Someone will come over, put the freedom in a bag and run off with it? I don't get how anyone can take away a concept.

Yeah, sure. Nobody needs oil as much as the U.S. Not by a long shot. And those "liberal" countries definitely would not attack anyone for it. They might trade but there's nothing wrong with that.

How are you fighting the police state here? By voting for Republicans who come up with genius ideas like the Patriot Act, have no problems with violating habeas corpus and building fences around the country and walls in Baghdad? liberal = freedom to be able to think for oneself and form an opinion without being ridiculed and criticized so you can beat them into submission...you are constantly sinking to that level...I find that to be abusive and oppressing not very liberal. I think you need to go to a political forum and try to debate with some very educated conservatives who have good English and grammar skills and a lot of different opinions about this situation and facts to back them up. Why don't you think about what being a liberal really is before you call yourself one?

Top 5 are US, China, Japan (Which is a huge consumer for it's size), Germany, and Russia.
And to Fun Guy, I don't WANT an alternative. I do not want our troops pulled. I'm all for MORE being done.
But you criticise what is going on without offering a better solution. We were just looking to see what YOU could do that would be better, and how you'd go about it.
But since you would rather be leaderless, well, I guess you're just hanging around to aggravate.

Next election we'll have a Demecratic president (god save us).
They'll start withdrawing troops, as promised in their speeches, but just enough to make a show of it.
Iran will do something silly, or Syria, or one of the others, maybe even something big in Iraq. Possibly even something here (Although I hope not.)
then the new leader will attack the offending country with the same fervor we had after 9/11. Stating that if Bush had target the 'right' country, none of it would have happened. Everyone will be supportive...for about 5 minutes and then we'll be right where we are, only worse. I forsee them reinstating the draft among other things.
We do not live in a 'police state', but it's coming.
And I'll fight it here, in the voting booth, and everywhere else I can.
Hopefully time proves me wrong.
I do not enjoy attending the funerals of friends who died over there. But to see people protesting the war at funerals (It doesn't happene around here, you'd better believe) just pisses me off. But I will continue to support our war efforts. And our current president.
