this iraq thing is a great way to prevent the proliferation of long range misle by those countries that have acquired nuclear technology......Or am I stretching the bounds of possible reasons to be there... GO NAVY
I actually agree with you on quite a few points you made. Religious fanaticism is definitely a huge problem but not confined to the Middle East. Bush listening to voices in his head that he thinks come from God is rather disturbing to me. Besides, the religious conflicts over there have always been present and will still be there long after the U.S. troops leave (if they ever do). That wasn't the reason we went anyway.
You said you want to keep the balance of power but then you don't want it to shift away from the U.S. Power, however, is not balanced now. America is still the biggest player, largely due to its wealth and resources. A little shift would actually be good to keep the bully in check. That doesn't mean I want to arm the Middle East or support communism. But if some of those states would be economically more competitive, the power would shift and I bet a lot of problems would go away. Poverty makes people angry and desperate, especially if there's a guy in your face all the time yelling "I'm the greatest!"
I also agree that climate change is a big problem and needs to be addressed quickly. Yet Bush still believes the "jury is out" on global warming.
And who came up with that pacifism theory anyway? It's another meaningless slogan like "Guns don't kill people. People do." Don't get me wrong, I don't blieve people should not defend themselves. But in doing so we need to focus on the real aggressor not subdue everyone "just in case". We live in a time now when we should be more evolved and act more intelligently than making preemptive strikes and ask questions later.
So, there are a lot of problems. Some of them were even generated by the Bush regime, a lot of important ones ignored. Why should we keep supporting a president who is clearly unqualified and will never change his course because he thinks it's a sign of weakness? If I see the captain is sinking the boat out of blatant negligence, I want to get off as soon as possible. If you want to stay on because "he meant well", then be my guest.
You know, I find it actually very hypocritical that the U.S. tries to prevent everyone else from having or producing nuclear weapons or WMD in general while at the same time they own the largest arsenal of exactly those weapons. Obviously I don't want any country to develop nukes but everybody should be equal if you want to be taken seriously.
Hi firelighter, off the ground tactics if this is what you mean?
This requires “selective” off shore medium range missile bombardment, a dangerous game, as we have discovered in the past where civilian casualties have provided the opposite side with all the propaganda they need.
No, I suspect that your government prefers the more direct on the ground approach with some measure of control. And, now that they are there, I ask you the same question, what is the alternative?
I have no answer other than the personal opinion I have offered. We hold fast. The salient point that would like to sledge hammer home, is that from the ordinary man in the street’s point of view, I would not want to be in Bush’s shoes for all the tea in China. And, that’s where we should be looking to forming alliances in the future.
ahh you're looking at the gun from the wrong end..... we know by experience how having such a device and arsenal of nasty things can affect and change the quality and character of a country.... IE the bush clan and there "DoIt....Or Else mentality when foriegn affafirs are concerned
WE just saving those third worl countries the greif that comes with the possessionof such a thing.
much like our folks smoking and drinking they all told us "don't do it" and now many of us wish we would of listened...
the term I find funy is "third world countries" I think i owuld like to know where they are hiding the "second world"....
cause this first world has gone to hell and I was considering relocating long Before they had the third world countries
It is a shame that we are there and even have to consider going bankrupt but this is the position we find ourselves in at the cost of human lives. That is what always made me furious with Bush and his rush to war.
You guys are going to Just LOVE THis little known fact ,
Way Back in 1962 as The US Airforce was just starting to TEST ICBM's at Vandenburg AFB near Lompoc Ca.
They experianced some little problems after lift off, The War Head was aproached by a UFO and the UFO manovered around The War Head and fired a Partical Beam at it several times, after which the War Head Tumbled into The Sea...
Also UFO's were observed over underground ICBM Bases where some or all of Their ICBM's were rendered innert,
These events have taken place in Russia and China as well, infact every country that develops ATOMIC WEAPONS tends to experiance the exact same problem...
Eather they can't launch or The War Heads are destroyed in flight...
So you see, someone Up There dose not want us to destroy this planet...
Furthermore if we can't find peace on our own, They will disarm us...
They have stated that they can distroy every weapon on this planet inside of 30 minuts...
I hear people saying we don't need this war I say there's some things worth fighting for What about our freedom and this piece of ground We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V. Said it's too disturbing for you and me It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say If it was up to me I'd show it everyday Some say this country's just out looking for a fight Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten?
Now I've been there with the soldiers Who've gone away to war And you can bet that they remember Just what they're fightin' for
Have you forgotten all the people killed? Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field Have you forgotten about our Pentagon? And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Apparently some of those who post here have....or just don't care as their own non-sense agendas are a priority.
Iraq supported Al Quida, and I feel they should be just the begining of this. Iran, Syria, and other countires who harbor and support world-wide terrorist should be stopped. They're not just attacking the US. They're after ALL of us.
I have only seen one respose from the other side on how they want to solve this. Part of our problem is that their leaders are in hiding. Otherwise we'd have them. If we put them in a room together, let them kill each other off, there would still be fighting in the streets as their own people would fight to replace them and continue the fighting. That is what we're dealing with now.
I'm still all for a door to door, cave to cave, country to county, search to drag them into the light of day and shoot them.
And there ARE British, and Canadian troops over there. And many other countries.
I'd still like to hear what you plan to do when we start pulling troops, violence continues to escalate until no area is safe. When troops from all countries are gone and they've destroyed everything we've built back so far. When it's unsafe far a woman or child to walk ANYWHERE in that country. When the other countries we're against escalate their violence because they feel we won't step up and help the defenseless.
When it gets to the point we HAVE to go back, this time without a foot hold.

I think...and I have just started thinking this since I have evolved on CS watching so called liberals=free try to beat people with a different opinion into submission=liberal=hypocrit, that if we left Iraq these other so called liberal countries, Germany, France, Russia would all be in there for the oil.
