Any age over 40 is High Risk but I think it all depends on how healthy, physically and emotionally you are.

they say that if you're over 35, you're high risk for still birth, miscarrage, or downsyndrom babies, but my mom had me at 38 so I guess there are exceptions. the question isn't really how old you should be, it should really depend on how much energy you have, I'm a new mother, only 3 months into motherhood, and it drains me, and I'm on 19, so if you 40 and have high energy levels, go for it, but there is always a risk, but if your 55+ I'd rethink it all together, don't have a baby, adopt one!

if you have health issues any age is a risk

life is a risk

i was told at 19 i could not have more children because i was diagnosed with Leukemia.... and had one kidney removed...making me a huge risk...

i had another at 29 and another at 40 and am healthy and have survived everything....

go figure...

i am still technically in remission , no one knows why i am alive, and please don't tell me is is god's doing ok!

it is my own doing. i respect your beliefs but i do not share them....

just to give an answer ... i assisted a delivery as midwife 2 weeks ago , the mother is 41 , and it is her first child... all are well and fine....
but she has no health issues as you have and she is in love with her partner so the chemistry of love is what makes magic happen sometimes.... there are no solid answers to your question

in your case i would consider adoption simply because there are soooooooooooooo many babies that need a great mommy

and to give birth with such risk is a bit indulgent to say the least...

just my opinion...

Medically and physically speaking, seems like sky's the limit on age these days.

I had my last at 29, which I thought was okay, but looked elderly in the waiting room full of teenagers.

The older you get, make sure you are mentally prepared for snide remarks and criticism.

At any age, take an unbiased look at your health and lifestyle, so you're not making a selfish decision. Taxing at any age, very demanding, and lots of responsibility.

Maybe I could have my eggs frozen, and find a surrogate. I wonder if this would lessen the chances of handicaps...??? I would ONLY do this IF my husband was in FULL agreement.

i would say if you wanted a child and it to be biological to you then yeah go for no matter what the age but all should consider the health and mental risks of yourself and your child. i was told when i was 12 when i had a serious bike accident that i might not be able to give natural birth to my child if i was to become pregnant but i'm not even sure if i would be able to concieve but if i were and was able to give naturally i would do it but if i couldn't concieve then i would really adopt a child

well i guess something to consider on age of childbirth could be................

how old do you want to be as your child ages it takes a lot of energy to raise a child

do you wanna chase a 3 yr old around at the age of 45 just a thought

or do you wanna try to explain the relativity of life to a 12 year old at 54 -- do you think that your child would understand or with all the changes taking place do you think you would understand ....hhmmmm

or better yet do you think your child would think you understand ...........hhmmmmm

but what do i know

All depends on your tastes I think and what you want out of a relationship.

Some women actually like an older man because they are better providers and more stable usually. That is true too in alot of cases. As far as children go, some men don't mind having a child but I think most older men feel they are done with that stuff if they already have grown kids.

I personally don't feel like I fit with someone who is much older than me. I don't want to feel like I am dating my dad...lol

The age of a woman in terms of giving birth has a lot do do with her diet history as well as her health in general and of course the genetic background fro parents, etc. Even geography seems to now hold a peculiar set of patterns...such as there seem to be 2 places in the world, where women, on average give births between 30 and 60's with no problems whatever, either the mothers or the infants; their diets are also a bit "peculiar" in comparison the most: in the Caucasus area their diets are mostly dairy products such as yogurts, rye breads, both dark and light, beers and wines from local hops and grapes, meats mainly of goat and pig; all unprocessed foods; the other is the Vilcabamba area around Peru/Brazil.
Diets are mostly the same with not as much yogurts but of other dairy products, meats are basically the same, but a large amout of fruits and fermented wines from them. All their foods are also unprocessed...nothing artificial, totally unlike here, where even baby foods have been found with cancer causing contaminents...not to mention the air and water....the studies have been on-going now for over 20 years. And our respective health experts say all is fine here.....ummmmmmmm
