I'm just reading through the forum and I get the feeling there are only Maltese people out there?

Is this true?

It's an EU forum.

It just so happens that us folks from Malta seem to have more time on our hands and are just a bunch of friendly people who like to chat to each other.

Why not encourage people from Brussels to reply by placing a post for a get together. Just a suggestion. wave

Then I suggest you go back to Brussels. The biggest percentage of people you are looking for are found in Brussels not in Malta LOLbanana

Oh dear, and Ax-man had to come in just then ....! Well, these things happen, dont let him put you off. I dont, I just ignore him. Actually he is quite a sweety-pie, just tries to act tough and macho, but underneath it all, he`s probably as soft as a half-melted marshmallow.

Smoky,

I didn't realise in 1972 when I had my first and last date with a Maltese girl that you only visited her house if you wished to marry her...........when I found out it was too late and I have been in hiding ever since.

It is far easier, and safer, to communicate with Maltese via the internet than in real life.

I agree with KT that the Maltese get everywhere; even when I worked across from the Houses of Parliament in Westminster there was a whole floor in the company that I worked who were affectionately called 'The Maltese Mafia'.

Mark my words, soon the EU will be called 'The United States of Malta'

Actually, since the EU consists mainly of countries that used to be ruled by kings, the European Union should actually be called "United Kingdom".

Hey calm down Killingtime.

How come so many Maltese people get this idea that they are ruled by Brussels rather than that they are participants in decisions taken at Brussels that affect them like they affect the rest of Europe, and that they have a say in those decisions.
Thank heaven that national pride is slowly dying a natural death in favour of our new identity as ciizens of Europe.
And those that don't care to join can always choose to be citizens of Comino. Maybe you care to change citizenship Killingtime?

There are alot of maltese people against joining the EU and the Euro, these people are afraid of change wether it be for good or bad. There are pros and cons of malta joining the EU and well it is really just too late as its already been done.
But everyone has a right to his or hers opinion and has a right to opinionate it how he or she feels fit, and doesnt have to change their citizenship. doh

I'm so glad you appear to have made up my mind for me..........I wonder why so many normal working people in countries like the Uk and France and many other countries want to leave the EU, the majority of them that have been there for years? They have had a good taste of the so called good life...............not all is as rosy as it's made out to be

I could care less how decisions taken by some rubber-desk Johnny in Brussels affect the rest of Europe.

I care how they affect my clients though.

The EU is a large pudding and the countries with the largest spoon can shovel the most onto their plate.

Decisions that might seem correct for more powerful countries may not reflect as well on Malta.

“New identity as citizens of Europe” ...I have seen grown men die laughing at that.

I’d prefer to wallow in the mud with pigs any time of the day. At least pigs don’t shaft me like these politicians. Do you like being shafted Antcus?

Would it not be politically correct if a certain percentage of CS members be designated as Andorrians? Are there ANY members from Andorra in fact? Andorrians....didn't they appear on the last Star Trek series....blue with little horns...What about Monaco; anyone seen a Monaconian? %)

Why so many working people want to leave EU?
Because they just have no clue and dreaming the dream of the "good old days".
If you want to see how it is living and working without EU go to White Russia. Try it! Try the nice well protected marked you dream of. Try to sell anything from White Russia to an other country. Get a feeling how bureaucracies work if they are not reformed through EU accession process. Try to make holidays in Germany with a White Russian Passport. Just try White Russia for some years. I promise you will dare for EU within weeks.
handshake

BTW: I started the thread not to offend anyone or suggesting that Maltese are not welcome. I was just wondering why hardly anyone else is posting here.

Well I dredged this one up because the sentiments equalled my post earlier 'Where did everybody go?'. TST's post only questioned the high percentage of people from Malta on the EU forum. It's certainly increased enormously since I left CS in April, so the question was a valid one, as was mine and not meant to upset anybody.

As per usual on CS, his post degenerated into an argument about the EU doh Some things don't change then! However, I have to say that his observations about life in Russia are spot on, I'm working here , I know and it's a nightmare in some respects. I have to travel from one company to another to visit my teachers and I need to be legally registered in the town I'm visiting each time I fly, which is about twice a month. When I bought a mobile phone to use here I had to give my passport details for it to be formally registered in my name.

The company I'm running English classes for is a multi-national, but the employees here, are in the main, still governed by antiquated Russian employment law and pay scales which are appalling. My students have to go through a long complicated process to apply for a passport to travel outside Russia only to be refused because they don't meet certain, ridiculous criteria and aren't wealthy enough.

im very pleased that so many people from malta post on this forum it would look a litle bare without them i think a lot of the people from malta have origins in the uk ; but if you look at who posts from where there is a few from eire uk france holland swiss belgium germany denmark austria etc so i think most countries stick their oar in every so often but i would love to see more from austria posting i appear to be alone here sometimes but keep posting malta i love most of what you write; but does it really matter who posts what where and when as long as it is fun and we all enjoy it professor innocent devil
