I bought my son a Ball Python for his birthday and now he is shipping off to the military. His name is Monty. Nice fellow non aggressive. I've had some really nasty Snakes over the years , this one is like a flower just sits there and eats mice .
I don't have a problem with snakes, spiders or any creepy-crawly things, no!!
I wouldn't have any problem with looking after one but I wouldn't have one for keeps. I love lizards but I believe all those kinda creatures should be in their natural habitat.
I'm into snakes, don't own any. I used to handle Rattle Snakes in Arizona. Diamond backs, Green mohaves, Red Mohavies. and A very large Northern Black tail.
Now your talken my Language , HAd sevreal different species of rattlers I use to keep in a home made pen under the trailer. I once found a baby sidewinder no bigger than my thumb nail, if it wern't for the fact I was looking for termites to feed my Geckos I would never have spotted it. My brothers and I also caught the State record Sidewinder off Sunset rd in Henderson, was nearly 4 ft long
That's a big one, most sidewinders in Az are only 14 inches to 2 feet. Too small to handle. I moved a 6 foot bullsnake out of the road by the elemenery school. He was just sunning himself right in the middle of busy traffic. They are harmless, but can bite hard, this one was slightly pissed when I mocved him,.
Now the flip side to this is. I had a friend from Michigan who had a thing for reptiles. He had a monitor lizard in his house. When he came to visit me. He captured a gila monster, took it home, The two got along great. Then the next year hey took home three diamand backs. Well for some reason he thought these snakes neede to hibernate. He placed one in a freezer for a while. When he too it out, the snake bit him. He was in the hospital, his whole left side paralized for at least three days. While in the hospital, his family went to his house and killed everything. This I was not able to confirm. Sad. I haven't spoke to him since before he was hospitlized. Not a smart move on his part with the freezer trick. Rattlesnakes have been known to be able to still move in temps below 30 degrees.
I was just hoping they might have donated them to the zoo or something. The monitor was pretty big, Killing the Gila or any of the reptiles is illegal.
I love snakes the are one of the most beautifulest creatures in the world. And I've had several in the past and am looking for on now they are so cool to watch.
I play online PC based reality games, one of them is an Aerial combat game called IL2 Sturmovik. I paint some skins for people all over the world, But I love to skin the snake skin patterns onto the planes, Natures perfect Camouflage
I have a file made with Irfan view its a slide show, there is about 100 or more skins I did, I should post the link so you all can see some of my work.
Years ago a friend had a large Boa Constrictor. He used to feed it rats he bought at the pet store. One day he want on vacation and while he was away, the landlord turned off the heat to his apt. Well the snake went into a funk from the cold but the rats being warm blooded were as active as ever. Somehow the rats escaped and they must have been hungry cause the got into the snakes tank and ate the snake.
I guess what goes around, comes around. I like to think those rats really enjoyed that meal.
Strangely enough, I like snakes. And I think the blue racer is one of the prettiest. However, it's not likely my daughter would take too kindly to a snake as a pet, even though she does like some creatures of nature and reptiles.
