Nah ... what concerns me is the price of tobacco ... its getting ridiculous! Especially with the Zimbabwe farms no longer producing. You can always walk, you can stay at home, you can grow your own food, but growing Tobacco is mucho too difficult for the ordinary person!

I'd have said Biofuels a short while back, but it looks like the only way to get them is at the sufferance of the Multinationals and under their Conditions.
Unless someone there has a change of heart.(not holding my breath!).

in a few more years you'll probably have to buy Tobacco as clandestinely as People have to buy Pot nowadays, judgeing from the trend in Government and Healthcircles. Its the New Prohibition.Protecting people from themselves as if they were children.
I smoked for almost forty years, then having to give it up for Healthreasons.
But why should I forbid an activity to someone just because Iam no longer able to.
Used to be called "Futter-Neid" when I was growing up here. laugh
But that is Switzerland:"Everything not Compulsory is Verboten"
mumbling doh

Price of fuel has been around £1.00/Lit for a while the cheapest was 92p/Lit up to yesterday . The lowest price is now around 94p/Lit for unleaded .. I am not sure about the other prices . Oil has been doing around $82.00 per barrel .. May be related to speculation about a firm action against Iran 'Warnings from the French Government issued over the week-end' .

Between ourselves the Chancellor here was predicting $200 .00 per barrel .. Think of the taxes going into the government’s pocket . Price of oil is speculative . At times it helps to push it up a little or a lot

at 200dls a barrel that would push pump prices of petrol to about 15/20e per litre ; recession looming;; does nyone remeber the bike with a tiny petrol engine in its back wheel i think it did about 100km pr litre of petrol could become very popular again;;

yawn Oh well ... it`s time someone took note of what is going on in Switzerland, huh?

Here, new housing has the (hot) water pipes going deep down into the earth before entering the building .... so heating the building is virtually free.

Then, those with modern "Bio" construction to save energy get huge tax exemptions. Even to do renovations, if the money is to upgrade to save energy then the bank gives you a certain lump sum Free!

If you use a bicycle to work, you get another tax rebate....

There are lots of incentives here to save the earth..... All used water has to go into the drainage system for cleaning before it is discharged, no dumping dirty water into the earth.... Once a year a truck comes around to collect containers of used chemicals.

Now the Emirates is building a Green City ... with No Pollutants whatsoever... because they foresee that the oil is going to run out sometime in the near future. And they have invested Billions in alternate fuel research according to a fairly recent NGM.

Oil should be priced now at about $1000 or $2000 per barrel ... then we will get some realistic attitudes to motoring around in our comfort zones.....

been doing the earth heat transition to conserve energy here in austria for over 10 years now;and now all buildings are being updated with grants etc; also why not build the new supermakets near to the rivers and canals so goods come by barges its a good eco way of moving goods around so taking lorries of the roads or by railway stations same reasons

I have this feeling that by the time billions of people in China and India can all afford the 'luxury' of a motor car the rest of us will all be on roller-skates and bicycles.............

This is where we could do with really good architecture on a large town scale - where we could all walk to work, school, shopping WITHOUT freezing our nuts off or getting soaking wet or blown away....... maybe moving pavements powered by a gently flowing river or sloping roads to and from the town centre that got you there and back on gravity......... with a huge hydraulic lift in the central location that lifted you a few hundred metres up in the air so you could choose the road back that sloped down?

I like the idea of gravity cars - no need for an engine......just roads that sloped downwards to your destination!
