I think Harry Truman left office with a 23% approval rating. That's 10 points below Bush and 12 points below the Congress at this time.

So, if Hillary blows Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to smithereens, it's okay? But wouldn't want the current administration to do it? confused

It will be interesting to see how Bill and Hillary run the country in 09'...I'll give you that.

Meanwhile, tie down any investments as the capital gain rates go from 15 to 30%.

It'll be interesting to see who carries Arkansas in the general election? That may say a lot how the election goes.

The war on terror will go on for decades, regardless of who wins. It's only how either party deals with it.

my view only~

You are correct in that the "War On Extremist Ideology" will last for a long, long time. It takes generations to squelch an ideology. America has had it's own internal "War" against extremism for centuries. Look how long it took for blacks to gain any semblance of equality in this country. Well over a hundred years from the end of the civil war to the civil rights era of the sixties, and the playing field still isn't level, although the "War" is slowly being won.

Truman was a very underrated president at the time. He lacked charisma but he called a spade a spade and didn't take crap from the Russians. He also didn't pass the buck like poilticians do today.

As to Hillary & Ahmadinejad I was not thinking of hurling bombs at each other but more of the war of words which the gender gap not to mention the intelligence gap would put him at a big disadvantage. As a rule men don't win arguments with women because women use both halves of their brain but we men tie one hemisphere behind our backs.

As to capital gains, there's a saying on Wall st "If you're not paying any taxes, you aint making any money." I think it's absurd to have only 15% tax on capital gains. Are you aware that in the US if you hold a stock for over 1 year and you sell it for a profit, you're taxed on only half the amount cause it's considered a Long Term Capital Gain?
If you made $100,000 on say google stock and you owned it for a year the tax is only $7,500 or 7.5% Does that seem fair for money you didn't even work for? Who do you think gets this windfall? Certainly not families earning only $25,000 a year gross. I've been dabbling in the stock mkt for years most recently as an online "swing trader" so I know a little bit about this stuff.

Who do you think will carry Arkansas and why is that important other than the Clintons are from there?

A person's brain labor earned the 7.5%. I don't feel responsible for someone who lacks the initiative to only earn $25k a year and didn't encourage them to have a family. The politics of envy is always a winner obviously or Hillary wouldn't be throwing out a new give away program every day. I've always appreciated what I've earned, more than what I've been given.

Actually, I don't think Hillary will carry Arkansas. If Gore had carried his home state, he'd have won the 00 election and there wouldn't have been a "dimpled chad" crisis. The election will be that close again, I do believe.

If a person thinks they're not paying enough taxes, then send in extra.
You won't see a Democrat doing that as they want it take it from people who earn it. Basically, it's theft.

Also, if you look at who actually pays the taxes to keep this inefficient government going, it's not the poor. They just drain it.
