I'm writing this thread in hopes of gathering all the heartfelt prayers I can. I finally met a great guy. He's handsome, sweet, and more importantly always the gentleman towards me. Last Saturday he found out he has Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. He had no warning signs and he's only 35. On Wednesday he goes back to the doctors to see which chemo he'll be on. I guess it's a good sign that the docs want to treat it and didn't say he was terminal but we all know it's bad. It's spread to his liver already. He knows his battle and my battle is to keep him positive and strong. I stayed up literally all nite Saturday scouring the internet for info but didn't find much. If anyone can direct me to any websites or shed some light for me on what to expect I'd greatly appreciate it. He was actually afraid to tell me cuz he thought i'd run away. Imagine that! Please say a little prayer for him and his family. I'm not religious but I know the power of prayer. Thanks everyone.
Wishes of strength to you and your friend. Hope the two of you are still able to find laughter. Don't dwell heavily on the negative yet.
Best site for medical info I've found is Medline Plus.
Nothing SUPER extensive, but seems to always have up to date information and photos/diagrams. Can be helpful as new symtoms or treatments arise, or if you didn't quite grasp the doctor's explanation of something.
And yes, having just gone thru this with a family member, it's a VERY good sign that they want to discuss treatment options.

Good luck with the treatment and keep being strong
One of my sisters recently was diagnosed with Cancer. I found the Cancer care web site to be very helpful - explained stuff in plain English. She still has to go for check ups now, but the longer they go without finding anything, the better it is.
It's a good sign that they're looking at treatment, when my Dad was diagnosed - they didn't even bother, it was too far gone and they told him.
Amy, i've recently found God and am amazed at what's happened in my life since then, i will pray for him i promise and good will come if you have the faith
I'm not religous but I hope things work out , I have known a few people who have had cancer and beet it some worse than your friend. chemo isn't easy I have experianced it myself and if it wasn't for my good friends it would have been worse. Try not to treet him like he's dieng treet him normal and if he's got any energy keep him active and keep his mind off it.I know this is can't help much but things can work out if you and him believe it will .
Thank you angel. I got to spend last weekend with him and it was wonderful! He had his first round of chemo and he handled it extremely well. He goes in for his next one today. The docs seem to be optimistic and plan on doing another CT scan in 2 months to see if it's the same size or bigger. There was a small fundraiser for him last weekend so now he can pay his rent. He has alot of support and love but will always need extra prayers so i thank you and everyone else for that. His spirits are high so far and he's even looking towards the future as far as him and i are concerned which i love. I'm in this for the long haul. Thank you again for keeping him and his family in ur prayers.
