Control Dramas, we all know the scenario, we meet someone, ask how they are and Boy, do they tell us!
End of the conversation, we stand drained and they walk off uplifted by the Energy they just sucked from us! Just one example of an infinite number of situations where we lose Energy to others.
James Redfield in his Celestine Prophecy series of books identifies four main personas that we adopt in order to gain Energy.
Aloof, Intimidator, Interrogator and Poor Me. The above example being that of a Poor Me.
Poor Me concentrates on gaining Energy through sympathy for their perceived ills and will not give up and often resorts to the apportioning of Guilt on to the listener in order to gain the required Energy.
The Intimidator will bully you, silently threatening through body language, reminding you incessantly of your failings and their possible consequences and also of your dependance upon them for survival. Your subsequent compliance and reliance being the vehicle by which they gain their Energy.
The Interrogator is similar to the Intimidator, but this individual will use constant and vigorous questioning as their tool to extract their Energy as your attention will always be focussed on what you see as a compulsion to answer their every question.
The Aloof persona is that which keeps individuals at arms length and conveys a hard to get or mysterious side to the onlooker. This causes you to constantly seek their attention and in doing so the Aloof effortlessly receives the desired Energy.
In all of the above the saying "Where attention goes, Energy flows" applies.
Why do Control Dramas happen?
We all act in particular ways according to our Needs and according to how we have learnt to satisfy those Needs. We enter Control Dramas Unconciously and without Intent in the majority of cases and most of us are horrified when our own Drama is pointed out to us for just that reason! We all seem to have the capability of recognizing just exactly which Persona to adopt to extract the maximum amount of Energy. Recognition of Control Dramas allows us the opportunity to withdraw and alter our attitudes to Energy Exchanges and also reduce our stress levels considerably in so doing! When we are able to see that the Dramas are not "Personal" it is much easier to deal with them.
Jeez, I can see all four in my behaviour...at different times and in differing measures.
I'm kinda thinking though that you're stressing the extremes in each behaviour type?
I hope so anyway, because I sure like to show an interest in somebody by questioning them on various issues...what makes them tick etc.
Aloof? That's just me until I choose to accept you...then I'm as warm as they come...I think!
Poor me...nope. But naturally, we all have various episodes in our life that are less than savoury, but I only share these when I'm up to it and when prompted. Takes so much energy from me to verbalise!
I suppose I can intimidate...hell yes! But I have to have evaluated the situation and people involved as deeply unpleasant. But even then, I'll attempt to seperate the behaviour displayed from the people manifesting it.
Im not sure if the feeling I get is an aura or some sort of warning - I know when there is danger though and have a sort of intuition about withdrawing from danger.
But flowers - yep - I am a gardener, went to college for a while to learn more, did the latin too - I love flowers but not sure if that constitutes sime kinda control thingumy hahaha I just feel the peace from them

Re the "Celestine Prophercies", you'd be far better off reading Maurice cottrells "The Mayan Propheries".
The Celestine Prophercies are after all fiction, and in some other interesting material i can let you know about the experiments in the 60's where they basically established through the design of the S.A.T.s test in the states that it was possible to predict responses on upto one million personality types!
I think you make good observations Detente and its good to see that you acknowledge your own place in these dramas but often, control dramas run peoples lives and they never even know - nothing pointed to anybody herepresent but, how many intimidators are actualy aware of the true impact of their decisions - not that I am in the market for quantifying but.............. do they actually know what they are playing at and how their roles affect others - or, as i so often observe in mankind, is self interest their sole driving force
but Robbie , Im speakin of the Celestine ones - if you dont want to speak then start a thread on whatever the heck you like - but please dont come onto one of the few i start with unfriendly stuff - you know my heart is true and I simply cannot inderstand why this winds you up - if you want to start a thread, start a thread - dont, please, fill mine with your continual negativity - you are so beginning to bore me with your attacks on anything I say - do you have a prob with the ethoegeneous substances of pre christianity or something - if so hun -get a bloody grip
hahahaha me too Riya, but the books helped immensely - we can only be what we are today - if we have to continually answer for or yesterdays decisions, we are lost - we learn and move forwards

I wasn't assuming anything by the way, i was making a suggestion!!
It doesnt matter anyway, i wont bother to offer any other reading materials as its a waste of my time, especially if you think its an attack on you personally or somehow negative!!
