I often see spirituality grouped together with religion. In my mind they are separate. Religion is the dogma. Of those I have read many and feel at the end of the day they all say the same thing. Be kind to one another. Do good work. Then go home gracefully.


Spirituality speaks to the essence of me. It cannot be turned off and I cannot press a snooze button. Quantum sciences have shown that we are just bundles of energy and that there really is just one energy field. We are litterally NOT separate. What we do to another, we do to ourselves. There are always ripples in the field and we feel them all whether we are aware of it or not. Every thought we have, every judgment we make affects another. If people really got that - we would live in a much different world.


Where does the energy of me end and the energy of you begin? There is an overlapping-an intermingling.

It is why you can think of someone and they suddenly call.

It is why you can talk to someone in another part of a world yet feel them fill the room as if they were sitting right there with you.

It is why people in separate parts of the world can invent the same thing or can write similar songs with similar melodies without knowing a thing about each other.


Spirituality to me is the acknowledgment of that energetic existence. A knowing that this physical manifestation of me is just that...a physical manifestation so that I may interact with my environment. So that I may experience and grow and learn. But is not the whole of me.


That would be like the most insignificant wave declaring itself the entire ocean. I am but a wave - a presence - a ripple - but I roll with the tide of the whole field. When I die I will sink back into the field. Still part of it ... but not individualized.


I am it ... and it is me. That is spirit...that energetic life force ... the creative and animating energy.

I disagree with this statement. We are all spiritual beings, I'm not arguing against that. I believe where we differ is our level of awareness or consciousness of our spiritual nature. I often find myself, my ego, the "I" as opposed to the "I Am" reacting to circumstances in life. I very often foreget my connectedness to the universe.


Anyone else have comments on this matter?

Ever read any quantum physics stuff?

Emm yes, I have read a number of books along those lines... One of my favourite books is The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. However I will not go into stating my beliefs here, they will not be accepted, and honestly, I just don't have the time, or energy, to argue my beliefs in a hot angry debate. But will reply to an email if you really want to talk about it

the celestine prophecy is a great book though in my opinion is fairly light weight as readings of that type go ... however I really enjoyed reading it ... it's a good place to start if one ones to dip ones toe and get a feel of "the energies that can't be seen"

SweetCherry you are not the only one who doesn't think/believe along the "average population" way of thinking/living

Diongenes .. great thread ... btw becoming aware how our ego and human shortcomings get in the way and react to stuff is the first step towards changing that reaction and learning new "ways"

Just to expound on what you quote. I provide some of my own evidence of this.

I was raised catholic and no I do not practice it. In school we were visited daily by priests and or nuns for classes in religion. As inquisitive as I am, I spent a lot of time asking them endlessy, "well who the heck is god, where the heck is he,." I expected proof and didnt get it.

Responses from priests and nuns were dubious at best but the most common ones were.

he is everywhere
he is all knowing
he always is
awalays was
always will be

It wasn't until later in science classes and some personal reading on metaphysical subjects that I stumbled on an odd parallel.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, hence it always is, always was always will be. It is indeed everywhere. It can be transposed but never destroyed.

Also there is a thing called kurlian (sp) photography that photgraphs the energy around living things. We are all this energy, perhaps all of one god? seems plausable.

without getting to deep into this, there is a lot of support for the item you quote.

again I totally agree... and will stop at that. Why isn't there a simple smiley face here?? They all seem to be doing something and all I want to do is smile.

My view on religion and spirituality.

Religion is our feeble human attempt to put a face on the God power that we need and want to understand.

Spirituality is being connected with that Power, humbly knowing we will never fully understand it.
