And if so, what typical character & alignment do you play?
I don't play anymore, but used to play all the time. I typically played clerics and bards, or an occasional wizard. Never played many fighters. And my alignment was generally lawful good or neutral good, and a few times chaotic neutral.
I miss those days when my friends and I sat around in our nerdy little heaven eating too many doritoes and staying up too late.
I've been playing D&D for almost 25 years now. I play every other weekend.....since I live so far away from my friends. Someone else plays my character for me when I'm absent. In the current campaign, I'm playing a gnomish rogue. In the previous campaign, I played an Elven ranger. I prefer Rangers, Archers, Clerics and Druids. But, I have played almost every class....except a monk. Typically, my alignments are neutral, neutral good and chaotic neutral. Playing on the computer is too impersonal for me. There's not too many female D&D players out there. We are a rare breed.
It's great to meet a fellow D&D player....or ex-player here on CS.

A rare breed indeed! The only reason I don't play anymore is because I don't hang around with that particular group of friends anymore, (they stole ALL my D&D books, dice, bags, etc.... ) and there's no other groups in my area. Small town... bible belt... everyone thinks it's a "devil game". lol
I can't get into the computer versions either. Way too impersonal. There's just something missing when you aren't seeing and hearing each other and laughing together, and taking the much needed bathroom/cigarette breaks together. Oh, and eating too many doritoes and staying up too late together.
i use to play the old fashioned D&D...........way back when lol
my first ex husband and i played with a bunch of his friends......they would come over after school(they were seniors in high school and i had graduated the year b4)and stay until time for school monday morning.
i didn't play much because these were guys who had been playing for years.....i subbed mainly when they were short handed.....and they didn't like me playin much cause i had good luck in the game.
usually my characters were elven was a wizard once...........but i don't remember a whole lot about it, i usually supplied chips and velveeta/rotell dip and bbq'd lil smokies and tacos and stuff they could eat while they played lol
they all loved me cause i kept em fed and didn't fuss that they never went to bed.

Oh please tell me you ended up leaving him for some reason and he didn't leave someone like you! I know some D&D guys who would give anything for a girl like that!

hate to burst your bubble but yep he left me well i guess you'd call it that.......he cheated
I'm sorry to hear about your treacherous friends. Or shall I say...so called friends? I play with a great bunch of friends. Usually, I'm the only female playing in the group. I've been playing with this group for almost 10 years now. We also play a fantasy-based strategy card game called Magic the Gathering. We're a very close-knit group. It sucks that you live in the 'Bible belt.' These religious fanatics know little, if anything, about the game. Most of them think we actually conjure up devils, demons and other various monsters right in our living rooms. Or that we case mind-altering spells on others to get our way. What part of fantasy-role playing game don't they understand? They're more dangerous than the people actually playing the game.
Yeah, I've been cruising around the internet on singles forums looking for a DVD player.... Can't seem to find my way to Ebay or something.... I'm wanting the old fashioned kind with dice and a tabletop. Thought I might find one at CS....

Player for 31 years, DM for 28. Still have my old Judges Guild stuff around somewhere. Partial to Half-elf F/T or R/T characters, CG usually. Just starting teaching my two sons to play using v3.5, but may go back to v2 or D20 for the freedom & simplicity factor. Loved Traveller, Aftermath & 007 as well. Never much into Gammaworld or SpellJammer.
My gamefuel was Doritos too, with lots of picante sauce, and gallons of Mt. Dew.

I use to play it , but after my brother passed , I didn't too many others that did so it's been years since I played D&D. But now it would be hard for me to get started back into it , since I'm out on theroad 97% of the time
