I saw a woman's bag snatched by a guy on a motorbike this morning. She was pretty upset, to say the least. So would I have been.
Maybe 'sacred' is the wrong word, I probably just mean 'important'.....
Anyway, everything from trinkets to heirlooms to your house or land being 'the only thing that matters' (like the red earth of Tara was to Scarlett).....
''How sacred/important is your property to you??''

It's not the property for me... it's the sense of violation.

I always imagine it would be more important to me if I had kids..... I think objects can provide a comforting sense of continuity to some people....people often feel the need/like to pass things on to their children
I would be livid if that happened to me - violated, I carry all kinds of stuff in my bag which wouldnt be of value to anybody else, even I dont know what they are half the time lets face it who needs an empty book of stamps or half a dozen bus tickets, but they are mine along with whatever else may be in there.
What a sad state of things in the world that people are driven to do this sort of thing

Let's just say that if I found someone in my home who doesn't belong, especially if at night, will not be walking out on their own two feet. They'll be in a body bag going out

you can hardly even defend your own property in England anymore - a man got sent to prison a few years back for doing just that

My possessions aren't really important to me at all. I'm always losing phones and purses, bank cards and keys & even had two purses and phones stolen.
The only thing that would be of any importance to me is my pet cockatiel

What happened to all the sensitive people? What if the person who robbed you really needed your possessions? I'm surprised at the negative responses toward criminals.
jodigirlsfree: <<<<don't consider material possessions sacred...it's the people whos hearts i've touched and those who have touched mine is that is sacred...you cant take it with you but you can leave something behind...
If someone needs though I would prefer they ask than take.....
You are too SWEET!
But if I were in bed and anyone breaks in.. they better be bullit proof because they wont be walking back out. me or them.. they are gone. and yes, I have had someone break into my last house, is why I bought the guns. But I am legal and have permit to carry.
I am a nice guy till someone wants to hurt me or rob me.
Conrad73: It's the Principle of the Matter, not the material worth of the Trinket(s).
This even goes along with someone borrowing something without asking first. The item is mine, therefore you need my permission to use it, especially if it's a personal item like clothing. Ask, don't just assume you can use it. Had that happen with an ex live-in boyfriend, he allowed his daughter to use something of mine without asking me first. I'd never let my boys borrow something of his without asking first.
I never seen that kind of thing happen in US ... most likely because a woman will reach for her Walter PPK strapped to the side of her thigh.
As for personal property thing. Sentimental value is very important. I got very drunk last Friday and lost a Pantera button I had for 15 year. I didn't even realize how important it was to me until it was gone. Luckily I went to the same place and nice bartender found it for me.
