Why do honest people have trouble telling the truth? ( Archived) (14)

Feb 13, 2008 5:44 PM CST Why do honest people have trouble telling the truth?
There are exceptions to the rule, but fe.When a couple 1st meet,or go on blind date,or even get really freindly on phone(from site or r/l)why is that the non-players,the genuinely honest people suddenly become liars? In security, afraid of reaction? What I mean is,ex: blind date,he decides when it's over he is not at all interested in her.Yet he says I'll call you or it was nice evening,be in touch.Or woman meets man from site, they get along well.Start phone conversatins and she decides that he is not what she wants, but instead of saying so politley, she makes excuse to hang up and avoids his calls. Will anyone here be trutful, admit they do or have done it and why?dunno

I really think these people don't like confrontation...What they don't realize is...It's far better to be upfront and say "I'm not interested" than to keep someone hanging to alleviate their discomfort!!!!!!!!

My experience (and mine only), it is a simple four letter word.. FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not fear, whay are so many that "say" they are looking for the "one", spending hours on a computer and not out meeting people...

I'm guilty of the crime...blues not so much now, cuz ummmm havent been dating much.....but in regards to guys on here, i've been pretty open and told then what I wanted or expected...its hard sometimes, im not so much for hurting anyones feelings...its easy to take the indirect route to the truth, then the direct one when it comes to emotions...sigh

Not quite right, You have just meet some really quality guys.
If they suddenly start lying,, they didn't suddenly start lying, they were already liars claiming to be honest.

Huge difference!cheers

Didn't approach the ?.Not fear of meeting or dating. As for those looking on here for a partner for life, well should they walk down the street with a poster of what they want?I do and sure many others do get out have social life.I date also without help of pc.Problem is,most folks don't know where to look, and besides sometimes you can learn alot from meeting someone in cyberspace.

OR are you trying to say fear is why we humans who are basically honest lie to another about another get together?

I wasn't asking because of my experiences, though I had a few years back.I'm talking about people I know to be honest ,real, folks, but then when it comes to saying not interested, they lie.I'm not talking about players who live their life in lies.

Human nature maybe?

Thanks beb fo your frank honest but why?

I asked people to admit it and then say why they do it.So yes why do you say 1 thing and think another?

I guess to ultimately save myself from being embarassed to tell them that i wasnt so interested in them, not knowing what their reaction will be if its embarassed, angry, rejected...not sure, just trying to save feelings when in the end, it really caused more heartache or trouble then just coming out with it...dunno
