Halcyon - remember to remind me to 'slap you upside the head' next time we meet! tongue

I'm like Jacko in that I nolonger remember my dreams, but I used to not only dream but be able to dictate to my subconscious what I'd dream about!

Did you know that if you dream about getting fit your muscles grow in your sleep - no, not talking about THAT muscle! lol

Sleep is one of the 'final frontiers' and what our brains do while we sleep and dream fascinates me....... at one time I used to have this girlfriend in Malta (decades ago) and I was in the UK and I swear we used to meet on the 'astral plane' at night! conversing

It was really almost as good as real life, but one day I fell asleep and she would not come to me and I guess my brain instinctively knew she was having it off with another bloke on the astral plane....... and it turned out in real life that she went off with the director of a play she was acting in!

Really! I kid you not - the truth is stranger than fiction!

I have met several ladies on this site on 'the astral plane', but I was wearing a mask so they didn't know it was me... but I know them and some are really very very yummy! rolling on the floor laughing

Can't is such a negative word..try it - tonight! Dream you're on cloud nine and looking down on people who smoke......where you are the air is clean and fresh and your lungs feel good and strong and you're just resting but you know that when you wake up you'll have lots of energy and a great day ahead of you! thumbs up

I have suffered from nightmares since I was a child. The doctor told my mum many years ago it was due to a vivid imagination!

It is something I'm used to now but it's very difficult for partners to understand why I beat them up during the night. laugh

Jacko everyone dreams its the way for the subconscience to let go .........usually this occurs in the REM stage of our sleep ie the rapid eyemovement stage which is usually the second phase of our sleep which is the deep sleep stage......many people wake up after this second stage ...or sleep very shallowly therefore they remember their dreams...you are most likely a very deep sleeper and sleep very well ......hence you do not remember your dreams professor you must have a very clear conscience LOL tongue tongue

That's your excuse and you're sticking to it!!!! laugh

The subject of dreams really interests me as some of my dreams were like real sagas, almost like a film ... I have also had "premonitry dreams" in the past ... If I have a "powerful" dream (in anyway, positive or negative), I alsways look "into it" . I have several books on the subject and also found a really good website that explores the meaning of dreams through its contents and links ... At the moment I rely mostly on the website as my books are all still in UK ...

I found that for me nightmares often reflect fears/worries that I am not aknowledging to myself or "trends" that my sub-conscious has picked up but I haven't paid much attention to in "real" life ... something that needs "addressing and dealing with"

Often dreams are symbolic and explore things that are "on your mind", colours and places, animals, cars/transport and "who" is in your dream all represent something ...

Nightmares can be so powerful and upsetting that sometimes it's difficult to shake off the residue emotions/feelings after waking hug

Well.. well.. well….

I don’t know about having to be a light sleeper in order to remember one’s dreams…

I’m not a light sleeper, I’ve slept through huge storms, through lots of blaring alarm clocks and having my ex husband throw up and not know about it… and on the other side, I’ve woken up when my kids have coughed or when my dog barked her head off not too long when there was a fire in the building. I suppose I leave the “call me if there’s anything worth getting up for” button on when I go to sleep.

I remember my dreams, and they’re great, it’s like watching films and I can change channels as I dream if I suddenly remember something I like more or if I realise there was one dream that hadn’t finished, I can actually go back to a dream and carry on from where I left it the last time I dreamed it.

I also visit people in my dreams but only people I have bond with for some reason, well… what’s the point of visiting someone you don’t have a bond with? In those dreams there are long conversations about important things that affect us one way or another. Sometimes I also dream of people, visit them and then the next day they call me up, but again that’s only with people I have a bond with.

I don’t have nightmares, I basically change channels if I don’t like the dream… am I a bit of a weirdo?... don’t, don’t answer that one..rolling on the floor laughing

The only time I don’t dream is when I’m too tired, then the tv is off.

I've learned of a doctor, who also was a psychotherapist and her work was based on analysis of dreams, that dreams are our "best friends". Doesn't matter what you may think of, but it really helped me, to get over something , which was a heavy strain, although I thought, I could handle it. With the help of my dreams it was a relief, I was able, to " let someone go of", who died years! before. Since then I "look" at my dreams in a different way. Actually sometimes you know, why you dreamt this or that weird thing, but there are really dreams, who show you, how strong your mind is working with things, you almost forgot for a long time.

Aaaahhhh dreams,I love them.It has been said that if you dream of flying that this signifies that you are unhappy in your relationship and want to leave it. Amazingly for some time before both my marriage breakups I used to have lots of flying dreams. The strange thing is that at the time, during the hours of consciousness, I was unaware
that I was so deeply unhappy,or maybe I was very good at blocking it out. Anyway, the dreams were beautiful and I always wanted to have them again.

BTW I am not talking about travelling on the astral plane, which I have also experienced seperately. I have to say that the state of well being after such experiences is beyond description. I like to think that that is what it will be like to die,to feel at one with all.Beautiful. To forgive all those who have hurt me,to feel no remorse nor bitterness towards those who have sought to destroy me. Peace and rest.peace

Yes, as a teenager i could dream, even in my early 20's. I meant, dream whilst asleep.
Then i started daydreaming rather than dreaming at night.
Nowadays I'm better off just sleeping - was dreaming too much fiction wink

confused Nightmares.... How about something that's like an out of body experience? Oh been through it and not really comfortable. Maybe that was the seed to some of my weirdest writings at the time.

hahaha, good one thumbs up rolling on the floor laughing but u got to keep it up handshake

as to jackos question, i do dream very often and i remember a lot of details of each dream if not all of it.
What i have found about my dreams and their power is that i very often link a dream i had with a particular scent, which is mind-blowing because we all know that you cannot "think" of scents as you can do with colours, sounds etc.
Very often, i wont remember a dream when i wake up. But at some point during the day i might smell something that will act as a trigger and bring the whole dream back from my subconcious...

ah, and whats more, i usually dream in black and white laugh
