Is it better to keep ones own counsel and let others assume OR be entirely honest by letting everything out of the bag to anyone who will listen. The pros and cons please...

It's better to remain silent and APPEAR a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.professor

Sometimes I am quiet and sometimes I am not ... depending on my mood and my interest on the topic and whether I WANT my views to be known or simply keep quiet. Sometimes I refuse to justify myself if I am being "pushed" into that position ... Sometimes I just listen or read what people have to say ...

cons: keeping it to yourself will make you look ridiculous at undue time as you will explode disproportionately.

pros: letting everything out is real...

conclusion: use the cons towards your enemies!

mmm...tha't a description of being a quiet person in general...

the opposite should be:

Sometimes i am quiet...depending on my mood and interest on the topic and whether I WANT my views to be hidden or simply keep talking. Sometimes i refuse to shut up when i'm being "pushed" to that position... only sometimes i listen or read what people have to say...

No!! I actually do mean exactely what I said.
I can have a "very big gob" but NOT if someone is trying to manipulate me into justifying my opinions or decisions!!! Because now as I get older I have realised that the more one justifies one's opinions/positions the weaker one sounds and the more one sounds like one is trying to convince oneself!!!

And this is the last I shall say on this matter!!! laugh grin

You're right FOS, as a 'people person' this is something I've learnt with time. So many times in the past I've capitulated when I shouldn't have.

Be direct and stick to your guns if someone is trying to persuade you otherwise, but only when you know you are right and they are talking rubbish.

I still find it difficult at times though.

laugh Teenagers and challenge should be synonimous!!! Some great momories for the most part ...

I have pretty much retired from teaching for now ... apart from the occasional day of supply at my old school when I'm "around" (in UK) ... and want to make a few quick bucks laugh

laugh Not on dating sites!!!! If someone puts in their profile "discretion assured" or "must be discreet", it usually means they're up to "no good"!!!! Unless they mean "discreet breeding"!!! rolling on the floor laughing
