A little premature, but having just arrived home laden with flowers each of my lovely male students gave me for the special day tomorrow, (I am lucky!) I thought I would wish all the lovely ladies here a wonderful day for tomorrow.

We deserve it and I'm sure all the men would agree.

And please give a thought to our sisters all over the world, some of whom are much less fortunate than we are.

You deserve a bed filled with flowers - no roses as I'd not want your soft white skin to get pricked by any stray thorns! smitten

Oh yes. Those women downtrodden by politicians. Those who get beaten for exposing an ankle, or for painting their nails..... Or who get beaten for no reason (like anyone needs a reason to be beaten!)
For those left alone and hungry and un-cared for, and for their children. And those suffering thru war.

Thanks Jan, for reminding me. The trouble with living in an affluent society is one becomes complacent, and comfortable.

It's a celebration of the long struggle by women, regardless of cultural, economic, political or linguistic differences, for equality, justice and development.

Many countries, here in Russia too, have made this special day a public holiday.

Breakfast in bed is mandatory!

It is known as 'All Womens Day' here in Bulgaria.

In Russia IWD originated from the time, when Kollontai, a minister in the first Soviet government, persuaded Lenin to make March 8th an official communist holiday. During the Soviet period, the holiday was celebrated as the holiday of "the heroic woman worker". Now it is an official day off and both men and women are looking forward to this holiday. It has lost its political meaning since and celebrates the unconditional love, sacrifice, patience, wisdom, and beauty of the Ukrainian women instead. It is the day of all women: mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, wives and girlfriends.

I hope you all have a lovely day.xxx
