All emotions. Anger, fear and tears. I tought myself to stay calm, even when I'm angry. I get things out more logically without the physical aspects of a bunch of emoticons vying to take the lead.

same here...do NOT try to decide & act whenever you feel angry cause you will regret it afterwards. I taught myself the same way to calm down first before i act.conversing handshake

If you are dealing with someone official, it's maybe best to try and express your thoughts on papaer first. Dealing with anyone in person you should always count to 100 and try and stay really calm and rational. Easier said than done though I know, me being the emotionally charged person that I am. I think it gets a bit easier with age though wine

Hi & ty

Dont always have time to calm down first if it is just happening at the time of discussion. frustrated 'breath breath breath' lol doesnt always make sense in those types of discussions.

once i got so mad that i went silent and barf out some words that had the impact required to silence the other person with shock very mad ..... but only once and was very younglaugh

What exactly is it that you are thinking about when you have this emotion of anger?

I can't tell you how to avoid it, but I've had that problem most of my life. When I'd get really angry I'd cry, which made me even madder because I considered tears a sign of weakness, and I didn't want to appear weak. I didn't want anyone to know they had thay power over me. I don't know exactly how, but I outgrew it, at about the age of 47. The first time I got mad and didn't cry, it felt so empowering. I think the key for me was that the persondidn't really have any power over my emotions anymore. It was my ex, and I really didn't care what he thought of me anymore, so he couldn't hurt me, which is kinda sad in itself. Also, I'd learned to let myself cry when I was hurting, so it didn't come out at "inappropriate" times.

dunno I don't know, all I can say is be yourself and allow yourself to feel whatever you're feeling. There are no wrong emotions. hug

i have expressed my thoughts once in my life without them but i cant remember how i held back the tears (sounds like am a total sook) but i dont know how i did it

help

Hope this will help ...

Learning to "recognise" the difference between "anger" and "hurt" can help to express the appropriate emotion ...

When one feels hurt, crying is the appropriate reaction
When one has been wronged in other ways, expressing one's disappointment, frustration, asking for it to be rectified is the appropriate reaction

The trouble with emotions is that as children we often react to disappointment, frustration etc with tears because we can't express it in words, and sometimes as we grown up anger and hurt continue being fused as one... And as adults sometimes we react to emotional distress not as mature adults but "the little boy/little girl" in us takes over and we feel as "hopeless as we did back then)...

See if you can remember back to when you were a little girl and your feelings were hurt or something made you angry ... Have chat with "that little girl" and get her to express IN WORDS why/how she was so angry (but back then could only cry) ... Do this with a few "incidents" that happened back then and repeat the process ...
You might find this process will make you fell like crying as you revisit your past (and remember how it felt) but it's healthy crying and letting go ...

If all the above sounds confusing you might find it helpfull to get some books or do some internet searches and read stuff about "the inner child" and "emotional maturity/intelligence"
