reddygirl: im hoping that he learned his lesson this morning..but what if he hasnt? any suggestions...?
One thing your puppy must never associate with pain is you, or your hands. If you watch him carefully, as soon as you see him showing an interest in an electrical cord, even glancing at it - give him a painful whip on his bum with a whippy piece of stick, but immediately hide it behind your back so he does not realise YOU hit him. When he realises that even the thought of chewing a cord is painful he will move his interest to other things.
I did this with some dogs I inherited - I kept free range chickens, and these 3 dogs were chicken killers..... till they realised that even looking at the chickens caused them pain! Within a few days the chickens could share their food bowls.
Just never allow your pup to realise that are the cause of his pain.
Another natural method is to use what his mother would ..... a firm grip on the scruff of his neck and a good shake, with a gruff cross voice.
reddygirl: because he wont stop chewing on cords..
the other day he chewed the phone wire..and got a shock..came running into the kitchen yelping..
then he chewed my cell phone cord in half..
now this morning..he chewed threw my power cord for my computer..and got a really bad shock..he cried for like 3 minutes..
i have bought many chew toys for him..natural bones..gave him stuffed animals..even bought him toys to put in the freezer..to help his teathing..
im hoping that he learned his lesson this morning..but what if he hasnt? any suggestions...?
Don't count on him learning his lesson he is still a baby..the only thing you can do is "puppy proof" your house...just like you would do for a baby...Make sure all electrical cords are off the floor so he can't chew them...tape them up or something or make sure he can't have access to them some how!!!!!!

Sorry ut if I saw you do this I would get you with the whippy stick...intentionally cause the animal pain..no way.
Use a spray bottle with water in it, each time he goes near anything he shouldnt spray him in the face with the water, it will take patience but he will learn. Yes a cross sharp word can accompany the spray but PLEASE dont hit or shake him

I have used this one Vonney and it works but Im wondering, would it be cruel or a good idea to maybe paint some of that horrible tasting stuff that they use for stopping people biting their nails on some of the exposed cords? I dont think it would and may be worth a try..........

thats an idea, actually I think oil of cloves works to
Be careful that you don't unintentionally reinforce bad behavior with coddling immediately after puppy has chewed the cord & been "zapped." We have a product here in the U.S. called "Bitter Apple," which can be purchased relatively inexpensively from most pet supply stores and vet's. Some pups are discouraged (some not) by hot sauce or lemon juice. (If you use hot sauce/peppers, be careful that this does not get in puppy's eyes.) Haven't heard of the oil of cloves for this, but it sounds like it would work.
As far as "puppy-proofing," I've successfully raised dozens of pups over the years (mostly Terrier breeds), and I lie down on the floor and see what's visible from puppy's eye level!
Chances are that puppy doesn't recognize the difference between what he's been given to chew on and what he's not supposed to chew. Use peanut butter or cheese stuffed inside those natural bones you mentioned to make those more appealing than the cords. Then, PRAISE him for chewing (even for licking) the "good" toys so that "NO!" will be more effective for cords, etc.
Good luck!! Be glad to help with any puppy problems you have, just drop me a line!
Try putting some Cayenne pepper on the cords. When he gets the pepper in his mouth he will stop immediately. after a couple of times, he won't chew on them anymore. It worked for me.
