Fair to be prejudiced ?? (40)
diogenes: Prejudice is closely linked sociologically to stereotypes. To some degree it happens to everyone automatically, and involuntarily. There are some factors that affect the outcome. The degree of prejudice in the person is one. Next, is controlled processing. Do we take the time to think about it, ask questions, and make a decision based on the answers?
Usually in people with high levels of prejudice regarding a certain stereotype, the stereo type will remain intact even after controlled processing. In those with lower levels of prejudice, the controlled processing is what makes the difference in whether the stereotype remains, or is refuted.

In RL i would be in denial if i say i am not prejudiced as has been quoted by solitaire and Dio so well . If someone is in a gang of very infamous people, i would definitely have my guards up but would still give the person a chance. So thats a low level of prejudice i would presume.
While on CS, I see the other person esp. on CS for who they are and have been with me and work it up from there.

I have been in that spot before...I can't say I didn't used to be and listen to things other people had to say....BUT I learned quick that the people others thought were not the greatest people...turned out to be just the opposite once I got to know them...I have had that happen too many times so now I don't listen to other points of views about people...I simply find out and decide for myself!!!!!!!!!!

When we view people,we often view them as WE are as people,and not as THEY are.I think that's where the prejudice might come in,and we do this due to our upbringing and conditioning.
If we took the time to view people the way THEY are,I think there would be a little more understanding, and a little less prejudice.

Besides there are people who come accross like really nice people, butter wouldn't melt and we wouldn't cast a thought.. wolf in sheep clothing kind of thing.. I think we should be more wary of those sometimes..

"Show me your friend and i will tell you who you are".
That is not the whole truth, but it does make a lot of sense to me.
If i notice someone on the foroums behaving like a jerk, insulting people etc, i will not befriend him. And i will be carefull of people that call him friend.

I think you are right... but the rules can differ slightly here because it is not face to face.. and although yes nasty is nasty... I think what we have to me MORE careful about on the net is people who might not be quite what they seem.. easy to portray urself as one thing on here and in fact be another JMHO

I don't let that kind of thing bother me anymore. People are going to like you or not like you, which 9 out of 10 times, it will be for a dumb reason in either sense. If you like me enough to be fair with me and considerate, then it's fair game, if not, then I won't care too much about you either.

Hello sweet lady riya, i am not prejudiced and the people i hang with here can hang with whomever they want and i do the same, it does not bother me in the least, life here on cs is a part of my life as well as many others on here otherwise why do we keep comming back eh? and like i have always said on here somebody is always home, and somebody is always awake, loves to you girlfriend
