Seems we mostly all live in host countries,so which culture do you live, your mother or host culture?

For me,totally Spanish.Used to love tea and hate coffee. Realised that this is because the Brits make great tea and lousy coffee. The Spanish make lousy tea and great coffee.

It would be nigh on impossible to live English here. I,ve had to adapt, tho it,s no great sacrifice, love it.

Only thing I miss is my family and a good old health conscious fry up
English Sunday breakfast, dying for one.sigh

I live in my own country,

I like it some, don't like it some but on the whole I've grown to like it more.

I used to live in Swizerland and I loved it,

I lived in the uk too and I loved it there too.

Hate beans and they are ecologically unfriendly due to the amount of methane they produce. Mind did enjoy forcing the ex,s head under the blankets.......rolling on the floor laughing

Come Cristina ... tell us! Which part of you is Mozambican, and which part is Portuguese? And then I am guessing the latter part of your life is Dutch?

Do you enjoy the Dutch food? Their life-style?

Can you see yourself living the rest of your life there?

Or would you rather live somewhere else? Where?

I have met only VERY nice people from the Netherlands - are they all so laid back?

Mozambican food - I imagine it as hot and spicy? Exotic, lots of seafood? Mozambique was always famous for its Prawns! Ymmmmmmmmm! Can you buy anything in Netherlands that resembles what you would eat in Mozambique? What is a typical dish that you would love to have this week-end?

(Mine would be South African Boerewors and Pap and gravy, with a side-dish of M`fino (wild spinach cooked african style)cheers

I feel the dutch are very laid back, yes. Very relaxed, they feel perfect in their skin, they don't seem to be ashamed of their choices, no matter how silly they might seem to others. Very determed, inasmuch as they are sure of their speech...of what they want. They have a go further attitude.
Everybody has his/her own embarrassements, but in general, their standing in life, towards is efficient.

Love dutch food as well, but our Southern african food is better!laugh
Seriously, at the end of the day, it's all about connecting with people. That's my experience, right smoky?cheers

I know I met some realy "whacky" Dutch people in SA, and found them very refreshing compared to the staid south africans - as you say - they have a "go further attitude"!
Yes it does make a big difference when you connect with people, no matter what country you in, or who or where they come from.

I`m actually finding, here in CH, a lot of the foods are similar to South African ... but YES Southern African food is VERY Nice indeed - and the Swiss I know who`ve been there all agree! They cant get over the size and quality of the Rump Steaks, and the sheer abundance of food served in the Steak Houses - and the huge variety offered!.. and the friendliness of the people!

Yeah and the chocolate aint up to much nor the deserts. But anything that used to walk they do good, except for lamb, have to go the market for that and it isn,t as good as Welsh or New Zealand or,even better, Chatsworth.

And I do miss things like Cheshire,Cheddar,Irish,Lancashire...in fact all those lovely cheeses you can get back home. However Manchega is good.

Now anything pig or cow related and they are in a field all their own.thumbs up
