anyone know err the survival rate of meningitis my friend is in intensive care and they don't think it looks that great. i'm just worried thats all any info would be great

Not sure on the survival rate to be honest, it all depends on what strain it is and how soon they've caught it.
I would think there is a good chance of them being able to cure it with the things available to them now. If it's any help at all, I know a few people who had it and pulled through

my daughter had it back in 1997 when she was 6 and it left her deaf in her right ear.
but a little boy i knew had it when he was 2 and died from it

my son also had it in 1997 when he was 4 but luckily came out of it ok,,
gets quite a lot of ear infections but no major problems,,

yeah!! she is out of intensive care and she is awake now which is good but still a bit out of it but they think she is out of the worst now thanks every1 for the kind words
apparantly she had bacterial meningococcus B which is the worst kind but luckily she didn't develop septicemia from it so is slowly pulling through

However, my little boy had it when he was 3 - meningicocal sceptecemia (forgive the spelling). Was in a really bad way for around a week (thought we were losing him) and he managed to pull through more or less unscathed.
Now he's ten and giving me cheek on an hourly basis.
Just wanted you to know that there is always hope!
