To me Mother Theresa was a woman with a vision. I admire her for what she achieved, which was and still is a great deal. thumbs up

My grandparents were my heroes and my inspiration. I respected and admired them.

They went through some things that I'm not sure I could have gone through. They went through the loss of three children, they both battled with major health problems and no matter what not only did they see things through together, they were always there for us grandkids. They had a wonderful life despite all the struggles.

Whenever I get scared that I can't face something or feel as though I don't have the courage to go through whatever it may be, I always think of them and it makes it that much easier.

I admire Mums... all mums including my own... (with the exception of a few) they can achieve the closest to selfless giving and loving that is possible for human beings.. dads are cool too and there are some great ones out their (so hope not offending any great dads) but sadly they appear to be less in number...

cheers to all the Mums out there

RobbieM: Who's your hero? Your Inspiration? Someone who you really respect and why?

Personally i evny people who manage to go through life without apparently thinking, and everything drops in their lap as if by a miracle.

I'd love to be unaware of my surroundings or current events or the state of the world.I don't know how they do it, but i'd love to be able to have that type on brain and not worry about anything.

So come on, who do wish if you could wake up tomorrow and be in someone else's shoes, or a life similar to theirs.

This could say an awful lot about you

I admire you, RobbieM, for starting a positive thread.thumbs up

Who do I admire ... that's a tough one!

Certainly, I admire people who have fought for others... for those who died for what they believed in (as long as it was a good thing) ... others who create joy and happiness in the lives of others ... people who are honest and caring of others around them ... individuals who are willing to sacrifice themselves in positive ways ... I can include the many people - parents, teachers, workers, etc - and all the ordinary people who have made a difference in the life of others.

Of course, there are world leaders who I have come to admire. Jesus of Nazareth, Socrates, Martin Luther King Jnr., Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Sadat and less known as leaders like Helen Keller - who had strong beliefs in social justice and equality and believed that every person had the right to be treated fairly in society (yes, she was also a political activist and a fervent feminist - not hte little deaf-blind girl you know!)...

However, I know that I will never be like those leaders I admire - not because I don't want to make a difference but because they are unique. I hope to learn from them, yes, but I cannot be them. So, I try to follow Gandhi's dictum - "Be the change you want to see in the world..."

Although I admit that I falter in this many times... sigh

I admire many great personalities I may say but the one I sdmire mostly is Nelson Madella because of the great resistance he showes a gainst aprtheid and the way he was able to make the regim dsiapear. But mainly becuase he from the very begining refused to meet with G.W.Bush......ever! and knew very immediately the kind of danger this president would create a gainst peace and stability in the whole planet!
