Just wondering, when there is a new U.S. president/administration,no matter who it is,how much optimism will it create(as the current one is such a disaster)...just a little,or lots?

I suppose it will be just like anywhere else, after the candidate is sworn in, it's back to the same old same old.....Look what we can do for you with your money, aren't we great?

I think, at first anyway, there will be such joy that we are getting rid of Bush that there will be a lot of optimism. In the beginning optimism will be very high, in general, though there will always be those who keep their unrealistic expectations and their negative energy high--and, of course, they do harbor a certain level of practicality within such a viewpoint. However, in general, I think there will be quite a bit of optimisim. Which will, of course, fade in time.

We had that expectation when the Tory party was kicked out in the Uk best part of a decade ago and people honestly prayed they would get a fair representation and the corruption, incompetence and the snouts in the troff would be washed away.
Now in the UK i think most people realise who is elected the only time they appear to know what we want is when an election is coming up.As soon as their in they line their pockets, take their bribes and whoever is pulling the strings gets what they want done.
It's pretty apparent now, democracy as we think we have it is a complete sham.

Democracy....lol
I like to refer to them as elected dictatorships. You are exactly right there brother.
Well a good start would be to get rid of the party politics most of our countries are operated on. Political parties are no different than street gangs. Everyone should be elected as independents.

And held accountable for there actions, just as the French did with there guillotine.
Perhaps if they were worried about loosing their head then they wouldn't rob the public blind.
Politics is the biggest racket on town, and ill go further, most of them are no better than common criminals.
There was a reason people started the Mafia in Sicily, they had enough being robbed by Italian Counts.
I'll let someone else tell you about Italian history and how the population weren't even to own land until modern history, they were only allowed what the Counts "Gave" them.
Nothings changed, unless you really believe people who own all the assets suddernly became philanthropists.
If you believe that you believe in the easter bunny and father Xmas as well

I'm generally optimistic (believe it or not), but since I don't care for any of the 3 candidates left standing, I won't be overly optimistic as they all will take us more toward a socialistic path.
Well the stock market is what they call a leading indicator which looks 6-12 months ahead. Lately the market has been rallying which would seem to indicate that the mood in the US and in fact the whole world will see the departure of George Bush as a major positive. Of course if McCain is elected it will be business as usual for the next 4 years and any rally will peter out very quickly.
