Apart from cream, because I have a dry skin, I don't use make up at all, with a permanent sun tan in Spain, anything other than perhaps a little eye colour is not needed.

I didn't use to wear as much before but because I was terrible at it,

now I've been shown a few trick and I enjoy the difference

I like it,

I like the smell of the make up too!, the textures...

nice

I hardly ever wear makeup.
I have one of those faces (personalities?) that eye-shadow and lipstic look cr*p on.

I wish I could apply eye-liner and mascara with greater expertise, because that looks nice.

I would still probably not wear it too often however, as I am one of those people that touch / rub their eyes all the time and end up looking like messed up pandas dunno sigh

Oh sorry, Wedward, I don't think I answered your question(s).

I think some women look better with make-up on and others look better with no make-up on at all depending on their personality, colour, facial features.
Some women "carry" it better, if you know what I mean.
It's a bit like clothes. Some women can get away with wearing the most outrageous clothes because their personality is big enough to carry them.

As for beauty coming from within....
Some (those who cannot see further) say beauty is skin deep. And for a quick glance, I would say they're right.
People who are beautiful on the inside usually only appear that way to people who are interested in the inside, and then only after they get to know those people, really.

Ladies use make up for the same reasons that guys have "nice" haircuts, shave or trim their moustache (spelled the French way) and beards ... And don't tell me that those are "necessary" hygiene things ... because guys could easily put a pudding bowl on their heads and trim anything that sticks out ... or hack at their beards with nail cissors but they don't, even though it would be FREE!!!!!!

I have no problem with make up when it's used to slightly enhance the facial features or even for some dramatic effect for the right circumstances...

I don't like make up when it's used to REPLACE the facial feature whatever the circumstances ...

wave Hi Wedward,
I have beauty within but............
I need to wear make up cos I,ve a very pale complexion and the pan stick and blush help bring out some colour, I also wear lipgloss to give a bit of colour to my lips and my mascara enhances my eyes.
Yes I,m 40+ but I don,t overdo it,
I,m like Casper the ghost without itdunno
natural to me mean would be a disastergrin

Well, I am just so absolutely f-----g gorgeous I dont need to wear ANY make-up! I just paint it on when I got a hot date, or have to go thru the German Border Post, (rolling on the floor laughing ), or going out for dinner, or going shopping, or out for coffee, or to the supermarket , to post a letter, or go to the bank ..... otherwise I never use it.

But seriously - I think Wedy is thinking of stuff you pancake all over your face over the "concealer", then apply a layer of powder with a big powder-puff, then brush on highlighter, add shadows, then blusher, then overlay the entire eye area with pale shadow, then add three different shades to the upper lid, then outline, then paint on the liquid eyeliner, then the mascara. Then over the concealed lips you draw on the new lip shape with pencil liner, and fill in with colour, dab, overpaint with another shade, and top it off with gloss. Should you inadvertently touch something a piece of your "face" is left behind!

Nah, Wedy, thats old-fashioned. Nowadays a bit of base to fill in and smooth the complexion, maybe a bit of eye-liner and mascara, and a light lip-gloss usually suffices.........conversing dunno cheers

I'll agree with Breeze,

some people look good with make up and some don't and that's because we all have different skin, lightness, colour, and a whole look so

some girls can wear tonns of make up and look good and some others, doing all the right things and applying lots of make up will look awful. it's the same the other way around.

I'm happy because I've learned to apply make up a bit better but I don't lke the overdone look, I feel weird,

I also don't mind not wearing make up, it's not a necesity for me but it's nice to have it on.

it's like nice clothes, they're not necessary, but gosh they feel good

I also think that natural look is much better than any make-up.I use just a lipstic (not every day) and some mascara. That's enough.
