Now that the reign of theirs ia almost over, will the executive, legislative, and judicial branch stand up andvote to cancell the most heinous attack against American rights in history? Or will the newly elected choose to keep and use the Patriot Act..
Thus far I not heard much talk about modifying or rewriting it.

It wouldn't surprises me if Bush and Cheney were able to find or make a way to circumvent the constitution and remain in power forever.
Indyfella: Oh...it was much worse during the Civil War and WW2. I'm not going into it...I'll let you do the homework yourself.I still wonder what rights anyone has lost. No one has ever given me a SINGLE example.
You have the right to freedom and liberty as an American and the rights guaranteed by your constitution...Now...if they can accuse anyone and detain them without a trial...providing them with disclosure etc...then you have lost several rights...I don't know much about the Patriot Act but I think our security certificates here kind of work the same way!!!!!!!
Well yea: when someone can investigate you for no reason, and have you put on the "do not fly" list for no reason....when you can, because of some disgruntled citizen or employer, be picked up, questioned, and told "Do not tell anyone about this questioning (oops, I mean "interrogation") or you *will* be prosecuted, then....something is wrong...

Exactly....and they don't even have to show you proof until they get around to having a trial...if they do....and you may be perfectly innocent but don't have a chance to demonstrate it....

They (the elitists) will always end up changing the law to favor themselves. Its' human nature. The only way to change the world is to change the nature of humanity. As long as the pigs are in power, that is not going to happen.

Lost Rights????? Some seem bound and determined to avoid reality by a very selective and subjective way of life. According to all the legal and Civil Rights groups all over the US , Canada and Europe, including all the various Religious groups that monitor civil liberties the world over, those 'picked up' for questioning, those arrested for being in or suspected of being in violation of the US Patriot Act have all been denied the right of council, the right to know the charges if any, against them, the right to a open court hearing to face his/ her accusers; the right to a trial by his/her peers. That is just for openers. I might suggest to these that wish to emulated the ostrich, that they wake up and do their homework, themselves instead of sitting back and bewailing the fact that no one provides them...it;s easy to sit back and only make snide remarks while their own citizens are harassed, jailed, prosecuted and persecuted for having different beliefs or for not believing in your State Religion of world domination through war... What a shame it is that they won't experience the same as those who have had that Act used against them.

Well said...it is a very deep violation of rights indeed....based on erroneous beliefs and heresay really because...there is no justice or fairness and people are no longer innocent until proven guilty...they are tried...persecuted and found guilty based on a system of belief and not concrete evidence....and certainly before they ever reach...if they ever reach a court house....the whole justice system...and Canada has Security Certificates that operate basicly the same...is thrown into disrepute....and it could merely be because you have darker skin than the next fellow....
