RillyNiceGuy: If you loved a person without a wheelchair and they became wheelchair bound.......would you stop loving them.....no!

Then you can fall in love with a wheelchair bound person to start with.

If you can not still love a person after they become wheel chair bound....then you are more crippled in life than they.

Truly are we not all crippled in some way.....some by bad experiences and conditions.......others by fowl and self centered personalities. One by life, the other by choices,.... one acceptable and one condemnable.

Sorry, joined this thread late so trying to catch up.

I couldn't agree more. We all have imperfections or disabilities in some way. Nobody is perfect. Someone in a wheelchair has as much as anyone else to give. Oh and the one point i really want to make is that winding up disabilities (god forbid) could happen to anyone.

Nobody knows whats around the next corner.........

Its sad how many judge solely and quickly on appearance alone.

which all of us whom have slight distinct physical charateristic of all manner, who still today are seeking someone who can invest just a little time to get beyond the outward appearance...

Yeah i know a guy who went swimming in the sea a good few years ago and dived in to find out the water wasn't deep enough and he is paralysed from the neck down now. Makes ya realise there is always someone worse off, huh?

Good for him. In my experience, the only things that will get you through situations like that are the encouragement and help from family and friends plus your own determination. Doctors are wrong all the time. I'm not saying anything against the medical profession because i think they do a great job with the little funding they have but what they know is based on experience and what they learn in medical school i.e. text books. Some things don't allow for that and aren't what they seem.

When i was born, my parents were told i probably wouldn't survive ( i was even given the last rites when i was two days old) and if i did i would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Well I'm still here and i only ever use a wheelchair if i'm going for a beer once or twice a week laugh
