You are right!I don't like it too.You never know who send that IM till not open.
Be really nice if on IM invitations can see the CS name of person.
Then can more easily to decide to chat or no...

This has been an ongoing complaint and the reason why many people, including me, have switched it off.
Apart from not knowing who was trying to contact me, I found it a nuisance.
Oki... then lets do that, there are so many ways here to get in touch anyway. And "in the open" is preferred to secret chats anyhow.
some people i have ignored have sent nasty messages after, but sometimes , im just about to log off

I turned it off. Better that way, IM is not my thing in any case.

Up in the menu, go to "My Home", look down along the right side and find "Edit settings". In there you have the IM on/off options.

I only get IM chat invitations from sultry exotic women in their early 20's who obviously haven't bothered to look at my profile!
They seem quite upset when I refuse to chat to them in mobile phone speak....... you know the lingo:

There is only one response they seem to understand -

Well, my profile needs to be as is for those seriously looking to know something about who they talk to.
And with the IM off I have only got one complaint sent with a flower, so it works.

Nah... she's not here to watch over you, I guess. There would be nothing gained for her (or anyone) to start a word war or similar against you anyway.
