Are there any P-2-Peer sites left that are not infested with viruses, spyware etc ? I've tried the most popular, and checked the downloads with 2 different programs. 4 out of 5 downloads were infected.

As Techie, I have done my share of cleaning up after P2P sites on friends computers. I would never have this on mine.
As for your second question, one of my instructors in school said the major manufacturers in the industry do hire hackers, etc "under the table" or off the record. Their only function is to sabotage existing programing, etc.
This is so the major manufacturers can turn around and make money off of a "new Program" designed to prevet, fix or what ever.

superfundo for movies never had a bad one there
demonoid for software (but you still need to scan them) however u need an invite from an exist member there
pirate bay is good as well, but I would def scan before running them... often there are posts below software DL's where people tell you if its good or bad software.

Thanks. I think Lime-wire is one of the worst, follwed by Win-mx.
gentlepaws: How does one manually scan an embedded code ?
you scan whatever file you downloaded, find it (the file) then right click and select from the drop down menu, Scan with _____ whatever virus software you use ... should be in that context menu..

That's exactly what I do, but some programs miss the viruses since new ones' come out everyday.

BnaturAl: the days of pirated software are coming to an end though. Youre better off in the long run getting demos and buying if you like how they perform
music files (in pay ops) also have demo's or previews too so you can hear part of the song before you give them .99 cents
I agree. I just got a new PC and bought some programs. Some of my favourite programs that I've been running for years were infected, I just found out.
