because not everything should be said in a public forum. Some things are better said in private.

I've had an opportunity to get to know a few people through IM. It's a useful tool.

Think about it. There are 1000's?? of people on this site. Look at the forums and you'll see the same 15 or 20. Not everyone likes them. You could be missing out on all the others if you don't accept an occassional IM.

That hasn't been my experience. I've met several people through IM that I genuinely like. Only 1 of them is ever on the forums.

Probably a slap. I'm recalling a prior post that although pretty damn funny--was really gross (hint, think about all the palces you've done it).

Don't think I will ever forget the images.

Could be that they want to have a more personal chat, rather than one open to the entire virtual public...

dunno

I've had some requests to chat on IM here, from members who either rarely join the forums, or not at all.

Not a big user of the IM feature here, though I have and do use it once in a great while.

quite simply some people dont wish to be so exposed, as might the one they are courting. thus, the IM might be a option.
I thought myself about the first time I ever posted on the forum. It isn't everyones way.
