(NaturalNews) The classic method of detoxification is to travel to a health spa, most of which have one thing in common: a source of clean water. They basically provide a really expensive bath. These are helpful, and during a fast, you may feel bored because you can't eat. Hence there is no better time for a great bath than during a fast. This article will explore the details of creating an affordable and revitalizing bath at home.
When we wash ourselves with tap water (especially when it is vaporized in the shower), we are ingesting chlorine, fluoride and other bad things through our pores and lungs. Not to mentioned the scented, toxic detergents and pharmaceutical residues. We can't possibly get any cleaner than our water.
With the right combination of ingredients however we can turn ordinary bath water into a detoxifying liquid solution.
Water Source
While the best spas have some natural spring providing water to bathe in, ideally you can have equally clean water in your house.
* Reverse Osmosis - The best way is to have a Reverse Osmosis unit on the main water line coming into the house. These are expensive and require maintenance, but will filter everything in the house.
* Well Water - Ideally your main pipes will be pumping your own well water from underground, also using a polishing filter.
* Chlorine Filter (for shower head) - If you have a shower chlorine filter (that only work for a limited time) you can remove the nozzle and fill the tub through the filter, but heat is wasted as the water cools on the way out.
* Sacred Water - Some water, especially in the ocean or near volcanic springs, is said to have magic healing properties. This is worth seeking and is tough to recreate at home.

HealthyLiving: Would you share with us your special bath recipe, then?
Hi Claire!!!!!!!!!!!
Hellooooo.. Oh I put lots of things in mine depending on my mood or what I cam trying to achieve..
haha
Firstly I do live in the part of the UK that has (apparently) the cleanest softest water).. You can still drink it from the tap.. and its YUMMY! tastes like bottled haha..
anyway..
I only use the bath for 'treats' .. and the shower for the messy stuff.
It's a Jacuzzi too .. so I can't add anything that will create any foam.. or it goes MENNN-TAALLLL..
I do all sorts of combination.
For exfoliation (of sorts).. I put fresh chunks of raw sugar cane in the bath (I exfoliate with granulated raw cane sugar in the shower too )
Aspirin too.. I chuck maybe 10 in the bath water.. (whizzes off any dead skin) Aspirin (5) crushed with a LITTLE water.. makes a GREAT face mask too..
For moisturising.. Honey.. gawwwd I use that like I own a honey farm.. honey honey honey I LOVE HONEY!
Anyway.. I buy boxes of milk powder.. and chuck in 4-5 cups and about half a (small) jar of honey. and slather loooads of honey on my face too.
Honey is AH-MAZING stuff... really.. you can SEE the difference in your skin after.. (brilliant for sunburn & 'real' burns)..
I am a BIG believe in dead sea salt too.. I use lots of that. and distilled white wine vinegar.. (if I'm going to shower again after.. or that can smell a bit) LOL
Ginger.. I grate that into the bath too..
I have tubs and boxes of 'foods' in my bathroom... It does look a bit like a kitchen in there sometimes haha
But my main ingredient in EVERY bath is Epsom salt.. It's faaa-ab-u-lous for detoxing the skin.
(I have a big bucket of it)
You can do this thing over maybe 3-4 nights..
Warm bath (before bed).. not too hot.. because the Epsom will make it feel MUCH warmer..
soak in there for 30mins.. then don't dry off.. wrap yourself in a white (old) sheet.. and then get into bed.
In the morning.. depending on how much detoxing you need I suppose.. the sheet will have BROWN! patches on it.. you repeat it over a few nights until the sheet is clear.
That works really well.
NB: And don't hold me to it anyone.. .. these are just things I do that work for me.

Great info you have posted here Claire!! Thanks so much for sharing with us!
Yes, there are many different ways to enhance your bath!
Listen to your body and it will tell you which to use. If it sounds appealing to you at the time, it must be what you are needing in that moment.
I do use epsom salts regularly in the bath. Among its many qualities, it relieves soar aching muscles!
I use the dead sea salt with its wonderful minerals, on my face. It is a great exfoliater as well as a nutritious moisturizer.
Ginger is a good source for removing toxins.
The milk and honey bath too is wonderful for your skin and do the honey/oatmeal facial for exfoliation and beautiful skin while soaking.
The warm bath is very detoxifying and you will "sweat" when you get out. Many recomend a cool shower afterwards to rinse the toxins off your skin and close the pores. It makes sence to wrap in the sheet to continue expelling the toxins, having them collect into the cotton, thus leaving the brown stain.
Ionic foot baths are also great. The water can turn dark reddish brown as it removes nasty toxins!
Also, Russian steam baths remove many toxins!
Find what works for you by trying different methods.

Claayer: Ahh... the Epsom salt will make you sweat like a bush pig..
I don't really sweat as a rule.. (and my armpits got missed by puberty altogether haha)..
But Epsom baths will make even ME sweat like crazy for hours after.. (hence the sheets and sleep)so don't do it when you have company that evening. LOL
it also seems to make you vereee sleepy.. so epsom baths are for bedtimes only really.
I was making a list to throw in the bath till you mentioned the Epsom salts making you sweat for hours!
I suffer from hot flushes so they will be a big no no for me.
