alabamabebe: What is a crumpet anyway? I've heard tea and crumpets all my life and never knew what one was. Is it anything like a biscuit? Only I think what y'all call biscuits are more like crackers to us.

A crumpet is similar to bread, it is all soft and doughy and has holes in, then you lather with them butter and the butter runs them making them all buttery and lovely.
Biscuits are sweet and crackers are savoury.

Yeah they are KIND of like your biscuits.. similar -ish.. You can eat them with sweet or savoury things.
Biscuits here.. are what you would call cookies.
Your biscuits are what we call scones here.. that we would normally eat with jam and a reeeeally thick dollop of clotted cream. (VERY thick stuff)..
