2008mm: When I meet someone in public and I asked her out on a date, I don't know anything about her. First, I asked her if she's in a relationship with someone. If not she can said yes or no to my offer to take her out on a date.
Why do women or men on a dating site, want to know all your personal business "first" by a dozen or so emails and phone calls, "before", they would go out on just a "date".
I know you must think personal safety first, but honestly, I not asking her to marry me, I just want go on a date with her.
I would like her to see what kind of fun guy I'm in real life on a date.
What's your opinion?
I'm with you. I prefer to try and meet as soon as possible. I don't want to waste time online and then have it be a disaster when we meet. It it's a distance thing, I'd rather meet quickly and then invest the on line time getting to know them better (since they wouldn't be available to see on a regular basis). So sometimes I probably come across as too pushy because I want to meet quickly.
I had someone one time tell me that I wasn't normal I resonded back to them that I wouldn't want to be totally normal ,cause then I'd be like everybody else.

mbcasey: I would hate to meet someone on here named "Charlene", and meet them somewhere without knowing anything about them and it turned out I met "Charlie" instead...
