Got this from someone who knows his stuff....

Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.

This information arrived this morning,

Direct from both Microsoft and Norton

You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'Mail Server Report'

If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying:

'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC,

And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail

and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.

AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's

are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.

Just Copied this from the Link you posted.

This latter version is difficult to classify as either "true" or "false": The virus it references (i.e., the Mail Server Report worm) is a real one, but it's neither new nor currently rampant (as claimed in the warning text), nor does it manifest itself in the fashion described (since the "symptoms" provided in the warning are merely a reworking of the text of an earlier virus hoax). All in all, that message doesn't really merit the dire warning to "SEND A COPY OF THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!"

But be careful nevertheless!conversing wave

As long as you are talking about email stuff, I had something weird happen yesterday. In my junk mail folder there was an email from my account, but I didn´t send it. How could this happen? Does anyone have any ideas?

I didn´t open it because I thought maybe it was some way of getting into my computer.

Have the Machine checked for Malware!
Someone with your Addy in their Computer has a Malware Infection in their Machine.

Thank you for the warning, Ken. I'll be careful. Though isn't it funny how we think our lives would end if this happened, huh? 10 years ago I didn't even have a computer and a virtual life.

General rule:

Any email, from a person I don't know, will be immidiatly deleted! No exception! Even if it says I won (again) 1 million dollars! Coz I don't know where to store the money anymore, since you cannot trust banks! (I actually never did, that's why i haven't lost a cent! laugh )

ALso - what's in the junk mail, it is junk!!

All you need is a good firewall with an antivirus scanner! For new Viruses it may not help, but e.g Norton updates it every few days, so there might be a cure for it already!

Avast is a good Antivirus Application,and it's free,so is AVG v.8
Norton is Bloatware and extremely intrusive. The Firewall in XP ought to be up by Default.conversing

I have Vista and I do have the firewall up. So it sounds like no one actually has access to my account but one of my friends has a problem on their computer and so it sent that email?

With the email is as I said: Never ever open it, when it comes from an umknown person.

Most Virus scanner I know scanning every incoming file or msg!

The other thing, which was mentioned earlier: Every time you give away your email address (like in CS as well) they selling this information to others - why do you think this is free???

And that's why I also receive about 20 spams every day! I delete them, but it still anoyes me, coz there is nothing you can do! If you click "unsubscribe", you only confirm to them that you're still alive and receiving their mail! They will even bomb you more!

Hallo Conrad!

Is Avast a trial version? Coz I hate trials, but some programms only tell you after the trial time is over!

I am also not happy with Norton. Coz it does too many things in the background without letting you know and it's very difficult to set up, in some cases impossible! I wanted e.g to have everybody blocked who is not in my addressbook! Norton cannot do it, but I know others can!
