I am about halfway down the fairway. I sit on my patio with my bullhorn, wait for some to get settled and start their backswing. I then place said bullhorn to my mouth and yell FORE!!!!!!!!devil

Well, I'm new to this, but I have been reading posts and it seems online is a good way to get an insight into people's personalities by reading their responses. Meeting someone in person, you can be distracted by looks and only the things they reveal on a date. But here - one really gets a chance to see different sides and views on various topics.

I agree with you. I have learned a lot about many people on line. When you read their posting in the Threads for a period of time their "real" personality emerges. This site has a broad mixure of the world--some good, some bad and some you want to stay away from. Many read, but never post anything. That's okay too. Many talk, and talk, and talk, without ever saying anything. That's okay too. Some are here just for the Forums. Some are here to meet someone. So we have all types....

Actually I've spoken on the phone with several people from the forums both male and female and not a single one of them was anything at all the way they seem on the forums. If you lined them up and asked me to guess who the person I was talking to was from the forum I would never have known. Almost the opposite of their online personas. I tend to be very sarcastic on here and I think in real life I'm far less and I'm a good listener. I don't think I'm much like I appear online. I deliberately don't reveal too much because of my job.

Yes the forum helps in that way, but I had one I talked for awhile in the forum and months in the mail and many hours by phone.
All of that still helps but is not proof of the one for you.professor wink hug

well, i look in both. i figure i cannot meet as many people as i would like in person, therefor i choose not to limit myself to one "search medium" if i had enough money and time to just go hang out every night, that would be one thing, or if i were antisocial, but as it stands, i have neither the funds nor the time to devote myself wholeheartedly to a search "out there". Therefor, i choose to also look in here to see who i might enjoy spending time with. also, if people are honest about themselves, i can learn more about them here. if i were to spend my time getting to know the people in a bar, for example, well, that is considered stalking, because i watch people, its fun to see their reactions, learn their habits and see what does and doesn't phase them. but then again, that's just me.

I am who I am!! A well known and intelligent person said this I think it was Popeye. I write, talk and behave the same online that I am in real life. I trust people and don't worry too much about hiding things. I truly believe you must be yourself to find someone and have it work. I'm not perfect and have many faults.

Ditto! Sometimes once you meet them you go "Wow" is this the same person I have been writing and talking with all this time. Five times this has happen to me.

Really? So you're saying that the people you have spoken with in person turned out to be opposite of what they reveal online? Wow - guess that shoots down my theory...lol...dunno - I'm new to all this - but I know for me, it would be just too hard to keep up with a lot of different facades. Interesting...thanks.
