Once upon a time..........

There was a Very nice family unit..........The Parents had four beautiful sons.........

In order of age and for anonimyty we shall call them R, V, D & K

The children were loved very much and their parents were Hard Working Catholic people....The Father worked long hours and the Mother was a stay at home Mam who sometimes worked from home..

Education was paramount to the parents and they had very high morals, which they tried to instill in their children....

The four sons, all with their own distinct identity, some excelling in Classical Music, Sports or Art, were close but like all boys fought occassionaly and the Mother had to get the slipper at them or even the wooden spoon occassionaly but it never did them any harm..........

Well the four boys grew up (some more than others) and became adults...........R qualified as a Naval Architect and moved to the UK
V entered the business world and Managed his own Distribution Company......
D studied until he was 30 and emigrated to San Francisco where he practices Law.....
K became an animator and worked on films like 'An American Tail'

Between them they produced 9 Grand children for their parents and while they did not share their parents views on religion necessarily, they are instilling the same ethos of hard work, good morals and respect.

Like all sons they went their seperate ways and begun their own family units..........only keeping in touch sporadically.....
The difference in age between R & K is eight years.......

Well ten years ago it all started to go wrong.......Their parents split up after 36 years of marriage........It wasn't a very amicable split and like all humans they tried to gather support........especially among their children......Unfortunatley R took sides with his Dad and D & K took sides with their Mum......V tried to be impartial and was accused of siiting on the fence.........Well insults were thrown around and the Family went from the Brady Bunch to 6 people who couldn't speak or even be in the same place as each other.......
The hurt and pain was horrific, and it reached Friends, relations and neighbours..........It affected a lot of people most of all the Grandchildren........

This went on for a long time, until V decided to approach his brothers and apologise with a view to bringing them together...
After approx 1 year of communication it has been agreed to end all perceived differences and to realise that bitterness is only a very destructive emotion..........It does no Good......

So D is flying in from San Fran, R is Flyin from the UK and V is travelling to K house in Cork and for the first time ever on Friday 6th February in Cronins Bar in Crosshaven, they will stand in a bar together and toast each other......

I for one cannot wait to see my brothers......dancing

Reach out..........You never know what will happen.....

Thanks for reading........

Vinny cheers

See, Vinny...that's why I share so much of my past. If it helps just one person, then all I've been through was worth it. hug

No, and they had to be receptive, too. I'm glad you're getting such a wonderful reunion with your scattered siblings. hug

And yes, the "impossible" is sometimes possible. I hold out hope yet for me and my sisters...twould be a miracle, but miracles happen, sometimes in the oddest ways. wine

Can I be bold and forward and make a little suggestion...

The four of you send your Mam a bunch of her fav flowers on the day of your meet cause although she may not be with you in person...her heart will soar to know her boys are together and the bouquet from her boys will be the icing on the cake.

Remember your Dad to...they brought the four of you into the world and raced you as best as they could.

At the end of the day we only have one Mam and Dad let them know how much you love them.
