Since a lot of the economy here benefited from development, now that the buyers from the UK have more or less dried up we are seeing the effects now. Some developers have gone bankrupt and it has had a knock-on effect with estate agents who are also closing down. Due to the relatively high cost of travel to get here, we are losing tourists which in turn is less income for the restaurants, shops, car-hire. We have also started to see ex-pats returning to England because their pensions have lost up to 30% against the Euro/ sterling and they are finding it too expensive to live here.

I took early retirement for a reduced pension. I'm OK as long as the UK and German pension schemes don't go completely belly up. Together they provide me with enough moolah that would be a joke in Western EU but is more than sufficient here in poor ol' Eastern Europe. So if I didn't see CNN or go to the BBC website I'd probably not notice those economies going down the tubes!laugh laugh

//////the people that are feeling the pinch as always are the pensioners , luckily i am quite ok and i think that within 12 to 18 mths the gbp will regain its strengh against the euro and the uk will join the euro of that, i feel certain and then prices will be stable in a level playing field.

Yeah...I'm broke.....I'm thinking of writing a post selling myself on this site...

...something like...

FOR SALE: Coupe de Lago 1953 sports

Late model, in good condition, apart from a dodgy right wheel... medium gas consumption, but heavy exhaust....usually fires on all cylinders, but not very reliable on cold winter mornings....going to a good home. Covered garage a must....

Been skint for years and will remain so for quite some years to come (thanks to a malicious ex who swore it would be her misssion to ruin me forever, pretty much has and is doing a very good job of keeping me that way.)Anyway, the only difference is that the bank now rings me three times a week threatening instead of just the once.moping

Thats my girl! See everyone? ... you gotta just enjoy each day as it is fed to you, relish in the luxury, be appreciative for what you have.

If anyone is in debt and in financial trouble ... well, you got to enjoy things you could not afford, and now you pay for it.

For those who enjoy only what they can afford ... each day is a rich fullfilment.bouquet

Hey yes, excellent idea! One of my ex`s once wrote me a tag (jokingly - but Oh so true!).....

"1947 model, in immaculate condition, hardly used. Works well under stress. Perfectly maintained. Low maintenance - recoups all running costs. Present owner regretfully selling due to personal inadequate early morning ignition self-starter system, and unappreciative of deluxe vintage models. (ha ha ha ha .. the last sentence I added!)

Codecil added within last 10 yrs: Covered garage a must, preferably furnished with a recliner positioned to catch the sun....... jackolantern
