Because humans are not a solitary species. We need companionship and friends.
Like many animal groups ~~ Lions have a Pride, Elephants live in groups, Geese pair up with a partner for life as do the Doves, and so on.
Given a choice of living your life alone or with friends and if you're lucky enough, a partner. I think most would choose the latter.

The need to be with people of similar interests. Helps to acheive those happy days we seek. We get to choose our friends, unlike family, so we choose to love and be around those we have befriended.

Friendship to me is the strongest basis to what a relationship of all sorts is meant to be.
To know a lot of people is one thing,to have good friends is even better,tis where quanity far over rides quality.
