Some of us will smoke no matter how much we know we shouldn't..

I'm sitting here with a heart monitor stuck to me, smothering with flu so drinking a lemsip. And smoking at the same time!!!

And then I complain cos I feel rotten!!!!

wexlady41: Haven't heard of champix causing depression..

Have heard of Zyban causing it and also causing heart problems, blood pressure and stomach ulcers.

Champix is good. I used them for 4 weeks last year and was off cigs for another 4 weeks after that. Only reason I went back was because I couldn't get time off to go back for repeat prescription.

Fully intended to give up cigs again but they are my crutch at the moment.

Unfortunately there are quite a few reports highlighting issues with Champix and depression - apparently it's been enough to make Pfizer change the labeling to warn people.

Being back in Galway and cycling again has cut my smoking right back - it had gone up a lot while I was overseas ...

Thanks, putting my thinking cap on now to see what I can come up with. The triggers are all over the place, so I'll just have to toughen up and get on with it.

Seriously, there's a book by Alan Carr - The Easy Way to Stop Smoking..

wave hi ya just thought i would mention allen carrs book , it helped me and about 6 of my friends quit about 4 yrs now...

we were all heavy smokers , i had started quite young cause my sister gave them to me so i wouldnt tell on her , and guess what was the first thing she did when she was eventually allowed smoke .... ye she told grin

His book , is just about reprogramming ur thoughts , like needing one cause ur stressed , when in fact having a smoke makes you more stressed , he explains it all , n it all makes sense ...
he doesnt tell u any crap u dont already know !!!!

So its worth a try ... good luck thumbs up

I read the Alan Carr book a few years ago, the most boring, repetitive book possible. Didnt work.
