Capital Punishment is seen by many as State Sanctioned Murder .

So I what if the onus was on the victims family to pull the switch, injest the poison , behead ?

Take the right to administer Capital Punishment from the government and place it in the hands of the family of the victims. Of course all the normal procedures would be followed,
i.e, The trial etc but the last judgement be with the people whos lives have been torn apart thumbs up

So about one year after being found quilty ( no appeals allowed)
the family would decide to allow the perpatrater to live or not .
Poetic Justice ?

vinny1967: And the appeals process takes up so much time, energy and resources........
I believe it can be hugely Expensive............

And yes every system is flawed I agree...........I just think when it comes to taking someones life there should be no margin for error............How we achieve that........I havent a clue............

Be careful of SXC............she is in a humour to pickle your balls............ Guilty or not.......
The Appeals Process is in many Cases way more expensive than to Feed,Clothe, give them Medical Care and House them for the rest of their Life.professor conversing
Besides what Executions do to an Executioner.

Exactly. You know they have caught one arsonist in AU that started one of the recent Bushfires, He was responsible for taking 21 lives.

These are people found in their homes curled up in corners burnt to death, families found holding their children.

What is he doing now? he is being held in protective custody...give me a frigin break...........unleash him to the families that have just lost, their father, son, Mother, Daughter, grandkids....etc.

Don't expect me to waste a tear if he gets sentenced to bloody death.......if their was such a thing..........these are the cases where you wish CP was the case, and no better case as you said LL than putting it into the immediate families hands.

This is a tough question and for the majority of my adult life, I was pro death penalty. The only reason why I have reconsidered my position on capital punishment now is after further research, most of the people on death row are poor, undereducated, very often non Caucasian individuals. It just seems that the power of the state to take a life is not evenly dispersed amongst the collective populace.

Tamarin: You are incorrigible...

You will have your hands chopped off one day...

Here is a question going slightly off your topic do you think prisoners should be allowed congicle visits or are they in prison as a punishment and should be denied normal life?
IMO they should get nothing.

It’s only a "color issue" because of the great disparage between the ethnic minorities and Caucasians currently sitting on death row awaiting execution.

Now this is where it gets more interesting.

I agree that wealthy people have more resources and generally avoid Execution more, because of the resources they can throw at the case..............

Does not seem fair either........

Yes the issue becomes considerably more complicated when viewed in that light. There was a move to "cap" the amount of money and resources that can be utilized over the course of a criminal trial proceeding in which a defendant is looking at life or the DP.
