I just finishes my four day week which I was rostered off for the Easter break, so I get paid for not working Friday Saturday and Monday, but I now have to do another four day week, as we do 9.5 hour shifts I get paid 9.5 hours for each day off?
Think I may need a sickie this week as I have overdone it this weekend!

Worst part about moving to Melbourne is the 38 hour week. NSW has 35 hour week for office workers. Contracted to work at VicRoads (was 6 months but turned into 12 months). Anyway, I worked the normal hours everyone else was working, except took a 1 hour lunch to have it with lovely wife #2 (my wives have been wonderful women, the ex's are another story).

After 3 weeks, I said to my Team Leader that I would be working 1/2 days on Fridays as I would be going over the 38 hours I was contracted to do. He jumped up and down about me "having time off as there was so much work to do." I pointed out that they were only paying me for 38 hours, happy to go home earlier every day. He ended up getting approval for me to work the extra time. So for 12 months, I worked 42 hours each week and no sickies or holidays there. Good money contracting.

Did another 12 month contract for a Council and usual worked 40-44 hours (traffic affected my starting time to between 8.30 and 9.30) but worked until 6.00pm so less traffic going home. Only charged for the 38 hours.

Had a call last Monday asking if I was interested in going back to contract work, could even set my own hours, and how many days I work. Very tempting.........

The difference is, if I don’t do my job one thousand people call the council that day or the day after! I am a service provider but its more off a we demand this service after they pay their rates! And they expect that service the same time every week?
We have just got bigger trucks, so we get there when we get there! About an hour earlier now? But it does say bins out by 6am!
As for everyone else, if you open your bin lid and look down there is a line 20cm down that says maximum fill line? Also if you put green waste in your recycle bin you can take the bin too the tip yourself, because I wont empty it!

I don’t know just how many brain cells it takes to operate a wheelie bin? But I can tell you now! There are a lot of people out there that do it wrong every week! Space bins 500mm apart! Do not over fill! Place away from trees and poles! don’t park your car in front off bins? don’t park your car in a cul-de-sac on bin day!

For one day off your life each week? Can you use your brain? For once?

Sorry. Snags, me love. I have managed to snag a day going to Caulfield Truck day for a couple of hours to listen to the new truck National Heavy Regulator crap about to start and had the the Vic long Weekend tagged on to it. Then a few extra RDOs because I had toooo much work to do and needed a meet at Corowa for ex-Militry vehicles. And then I did have to take some time out to meet all those lovely ladies (you too Snags) at the Melb Meet. Would have worked but for some reason, there was an Easter long weekend tagged into March.
