Aww... so precious Wonderful poem & story... there are so many on the streets & so easy to judge. Sometimes we could be right. But we don't really have a clue ...someone on the streets or an impatient cashier or.... There are many more like the dear man in your story than we realize.
Beyond the wisdom in this poem, just love the poetry & story... very, very enjoyable to read, just love it!

I was but one step away there too, cafe'. I always try to stop and listen and to help as I can. I have a soft spot for the down and out.

Thanks Happy'.. I feel a sense of forgivness and reunion in the poem as well.. Yet there is the clear idea that we might walk past a homeless person who got there just through sheer unforseen circumstance, and may very well be our closest relative. cafe'

I've always loved this poem, Cafe. And just remembered a song that kinda reminds me of it - love both!
This poem is short, lovely, sad, heartfelt, deep and touching ... It's not really a love story, not a romantic one but I can read it time after time without feeling bored!!!! >_<// I read this many times!! but still I didn't know what to say, I loved this... nooo, not really 'love' but 'more than love!!! >_<--
I don't know who you are but I would like to THANK YOU for writing this one!!!!!!!!! ((((HUGS))))

Thesunandthesea..Your comments make me speechless.. So nice that this poem found a place in your heart. A daughters longing for the lost love of her dad reaches deeply in the heart. Glad I could express something of that powerful reality. Thank you for taking the time to read that..
Your very good at this allegorical story-tell style of writing.

We are indeed so vulnerable and left to fate, no matter our choices.
